A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Global Korean Studies [a department exclusively for international students]
Published by Kongju National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Document checklist (form 1) and the application form printed from Jinhak Apply with a photo attached (form 2 freshmen, form 3 transfers)
- Language proof: TOPIK 3 or higher; or a university language institute certificate naming the level plus all-term transcripts; or KNU's Korean test pass; or KIIP papers; or a King Sejong Institute certificate
- English track (International Studies): BOTH a TOPIK 2 or higher report and an English score at the bar. Only scores valid on the application deadline count
- Freshmen: high school graduation (or expected) certificate and full high school transcript, each with an apostille or consular confirmation. School record (생활기록부) only if you attended a Korean or overseas Korean school
- Transfers: university completion or graduation (or expected) certificate and the full university transcript, each with an apostille or consular confirmation
- Schooling finished in Korea needs no apostille or consular confirmation, but the originals are still required
- Nationality and family proof: copies of your parents' ID or passports, and an original (Korean or English, or a notarised translation, issued within 1 year) proving the nationality of you and your parents and your relation
- Schools in China: a CHSI report. Chinese nationals file a whole-family hukou (issued within 5 years); add a kinship certificate if it does not list you and both parents together. Other countries: a government-issued original
- Passport copy (unexpired); alien registration card copy, front and back, if you hold one
- Financial proof: the study expense pledge (form 4) and an original bank balance certificate (see the notes)
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE (8,000,000 won for those who finished KNU's Korean course, with the completion certificate and all-term transcripts), in your or a parent's name (a sibling if both parents have died).
Foreigners living in Korea with an alien registration card file a certificate from a Korean bank in their own name (minors may use a parent's). A KNU professor may guarantee one student, with the professor's own forms and balance certificate.
Issued within 30 days of filing; one that prints a validity period counts until then, if issued within 6 months. Bank statements and mobile-banking screenshots do not count. File it with the papers (19 October to 19 November 2026) or after acceptance (1 to 5 February 2027).
Applicants living in Korea who join the school's group visa application must file a bank certificate in their own name again.
Application fee 60,000 won, by card or bank transfer on the application site (the payer's name must match). 40,000 won is refunded if you fail the document stage, or miss the interview because a disaster or accident put you in hospital (with proof).
The same guide also says paid application fees are not returned; the refund cases above are printed in its fee section. A refund to an account abroad bears the overseas transfer charge, which you pay.
Results: 31 December 2026 after 10:00 on the international office site, no individual contact. Tuition is paid in January 2027 (dates posted later). The admission letter comes by e-mail after all papers are in and tuition is paid.
Expected graduates hand in the final apostilled diploma and transcript by 19 February 2027, or the admission fails. Last year, Spring 2026 tuition was paid on 20 to 23 January 2026 (timing hint only).
Dormitory, a semester, 2026 second-semester rates with meals: Gongju 1,647,400 to 2,608,900 won; Cheonan 1,088,370 to 1,913,350 won; Yesan 1,667,150 to 2,393,950 won, by hall and room. Some halls add an electricity deposit.
Foreigners have priority for the dormitory, but not all can be placed if there are more applicants than beds. Dormitory applications open after the results, on dormi.kongju.ac.kr.
National Health Insurance is compulsory for students staying 6 months or more; without it scholarships can be withheld and the office will not handle your visa paperwork. Tuition can be paid through Alipay, BIDV, WeChat Pay or PayPal (notice of 10 July 2026).
Scholarship holders file the sponsor's letter of planned payment; under 16,000,000 won, add bank proof. Tuition is refunded in full only if you give up your place before the entrance date; after it, less by days of class.
Graduates of universities in Myanmar, as printed (consular confirmation may follow after entry): "미얀마 대학 출신 지원자의 경우, 최종 학력 입증 서류(졸업 및 성적증명서)에 대한 영사확인 서류는 해당국 상황을 고려하여 입학 후 본 대학에서 별도로 정하는 기한까지 제출 가능".

All requirements
- TUITION NOT KNOWN: no fee table the school prints names this department's band. 2026 bands run 1,734,000 to 2,299,000 won a semester. Ask the finance office (+82-41-850-8092) before you budget
- You and both parents hold foreign nationality (accepted if all of you took it before you began high-school-level study). Dual nationals holding Korean nationality and stateless persons cannot apply; nationality counts on the deadline
- FRESHMEN: finished school to the level of Korean high school, graduated or graduating before February 2027. School-leaving exams (검정고시), homeschooling and cyber learning are NOT accepted
- TRANSFERS: year 2 (4 semesters) or more finished at a 4-year university, or a junior college graduate (both by February 2027). Two years at a 3-year junior college does not count. Current KNU students cannot apply
- KOREAN (one of): TOPIK 3 or higher; level 3 or higher of a Korean course at a Korean university institute (finished or finishing); KNU's own Korean test; KIIP level 3 or higher; King Sejong Institute intermediate 1 or higher (not online)
- Scores must be valid on the application deadline; with no validity printed, a score counts for 2 years from the test date
- ENGLISH TRACK: only the Division of International Studies (International Financial Engineering). It needs TOPIK 2 AND an English score: "TOEFL(ibt) 71 또는 4 / TOEFL(cbt)197 / TOEFL(pbt)530 / IELTS 5.5 / New TEPS 326 / CEFR B2 / TOEIC 700"
- Selection: documents, then an interview (100 points) for eligible applicants, face to face in principle; video or phone for applicants abroad who ask in advance, or if the department decides. The department may add its own test
- You fail with a missed interview, an interview average under 60 or a total under 60. Applicants who attended a Korean high school or an overseas Korean school are checked for school-violence records (points deducted)
- One department only. After you pay the fee you cannot change the department or cancel. Places are not numbered: each unit selects outside its quota by academic ability
- Most departments teach in Korean; ask the department about English classes. International Studies teaches its majors 100% in English and general education in Korean
- TO GRADUATE: TOPIK 4 (International Studies too). TOPIK 3 is enough for government scholars and all arts and physical education programmes. English-track students need the school's English standard. Scores must be earned while enrolled
- TUITION a semester, 2026 rates (2027 may change): 1,734,000 humanities, social, business, 3 Yesan units; 2,108,000 sciences, Sports Science, nursing and health, International Studies, other Yesan units; 2,299,000 arts, engineering, AI
- The guide's mathematics band (1,746,000) is Mathematics Education only, which this guide does not open to international students
- The international guide does not say which major is in which band; the school's 2027 regular admission guide (정시 모집요강, p.62 and pp.6 to 8) does, per semester. Finance office +82-41-850-8092
- Sports Science: the 정시 table charges it the natural band (2,108,000), but the international table heads its 2,299,000 band 예체능 ("Arts" in English). Confirm with the finance office before you budget
- There is no undergraduate entrance fee line in the guide (the graduate table prints one separately)
- Departments of the College of Education are not open to international undergraduates in this guide. Being in any education department gives no teaching licence (guide note)
