What can I study?

Published by Kookmin University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Document screening application and academic verification consent printed from uwayapply and signed; Design and Arts interviewees add a self-introduction and study plan in Korean on the school form
• High school graduation (or expected) certificate, translated and notarised, with apostille or embassy confirmation, issued within about a year (China: CHSI report; vocational schools add the Ministry of Justice school form)
• Full high school transcript (English original, or translated and notarised)
• ID cards or passports of you and both parents (parents' passports required for Japanese and US applicants); your alien registration card if you live in Korea
• Family relation or birth certificate, translated and notarised, issued within about a year (China: kinship certificate); divorce or death proofs where relevant
• Korean proficiency proof, or the English proof for KIBS

THE BANK BALANCE IS USD 16,000 (CNY 120,000) at a foreign bank in your or a parent's name, deposited until after the semester starts, or 20,000,000 WON at a Korean bank in your own name; issued within two weeks before you collect the Certificate of Admission, after tuition. Residents of Korea use a Korean bank in their own name.

Application fee 120,000 won (Design and Arts 150,000) plus a 4,500 won uwayapply charge; no refund after the deadline. Fall 2026 figures.

Certificate of Admission collected at the Global Center room 203 (e-mailed abroad); D-2 at the Korean embassy, or a status change on HiKorea for residents.

All requirements

• You and BOTH parents are foreign nationals and never held Korean nationality; Korean dual nationals cannot apply
• You graduated (or will) from a regular high school. A GED or other equivalency exam, homeschooling, online schooling, prep courses, adult or correspondence education do NOT count
• KOREAN: any ONE proof, no minimum level: a TOPIK report, Kookmin's own Korean test (55,000 won), a university Korean centre completion certificate, a Sejong Korean Assessment score, a partner prep class certificate, or other proof
• NO KOREAN AT ALL? Take leave in semester one and study two semesters in the KLC dual course on a D-4 (both tuitions paid at entry), then join the degree, or earlier at TOPIK 3. Not for Design, Arts, Global Korean or Global Business
• Global Korean and Global Business (both Korean and Chinese bilingual) need no Korean proof but take a paid Korean course in the first semester
• After entry: TOPIK 4 (or equivalent) goes straight to the regular course; TOPIK 3 takes Korean Training Course II (18 credits); TOPIK 2 or below Course I (17 credits)
• Selection: humanities, science and PE units 100% on documents (1,000 points); Design and Arts 100% by interview with portfolio (Design up to seven A3 works, Fine Arts five) or performance. Education admits at most three a year
