What do I need?

• Online application, release of information, statement of purpose of about 1,200 words
• Official transcripts with the GPA scale (WES or Scholaro conversion if the scale is unusual) and the degree or expected graduation certificate
• Optional recommendation letter sent from the referee's work e-mail to [email protected]
• English test score
• Bank statement with a consent form (and a sponsorship form if the account is a parent's)
• Passports of you and your parents, birth certificate; Chinese applicants add CHSI, ID cards and Hukoubu

THE BANK BALANCE IS MORE THAN USD 20,000 IN ONE ACCOUNT, issued within 30 days of the document deadline and kept until admission. Applicants from the 26 countries listed on p.9 to 11 of the guide freeze 30,000,000 won (USD 20,000) until 31 August. Exempt with a visa already allowing full-time study or a scholarship letter over USD 20,000 a year.

Application fee 100,000 won including a 10,000 commission.

Tuition 7,183,000 won a semester plus an admission fee of 1,234,000, as of Spring 2025, subject to change.

All requirements

• International Student A: you and both parents foreign citizens. B: includes overseas Koreans schooled 16 years or more outside Korea
• A bachelor's for the MA, a master's for the PhD, from a university listed in the IAU World Higher Education Database
• English proof (TOEFL iBT, My Best accepted, or IELTS Academic) unless you are a native speaker or hold a degree from a listed English-speaking country or an English-medium university. TOEIC, TEPS, ITP and home editions are not accepted
• NEWEST GUIDE IS FALL 2026: online application 23 March to 10 April 2026, results 16 June 2026. No Spring 2027 GSIS guide was posted on 25 September 2026
• Selection on documents; some PhD applicants are interviewed
