A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Media and Visual Arts
- Digital Performing Arts and Media Arts (3,492,500; years 3 and 4: 3,432,000)
Published by Kyungnam University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form [Form 1], in Korean or English, with your major's name written in Korean; tick the agreement box for the attachment in the Excel form. School information check [Form 2] only for graduates of Chinese vocational high schools
- Passport copy (the guide asks Uzbekistan nationals for the passport for overseas use). Alien registration card copy if you are staying in Korea
- FRESHMEN: high school graduation (or expected) certificate with proof of schooling, and the full high school transcript in English (if not in English, a translation plus notarisation)
- TRANSFERS: four-year university students file certified high school graduation plus university enrolment papers; junior college graduates file certified junior college graduation. Plus the full university transcript
- Proof of schooling: an apostille in convention countries, a Korean consular confirmation elsewhere. China: a report from the education ministry's certification centre, or an apostille. Expected graduates file the final certificate later
- Language proof (copy) for one of the four language routes. KKPT takers file no score sheet
- Family relation certificate from a government office, translated and notarised original: a birth certificate or family relation certificate. Chinese nationals: a kinship certificate, plus a divorce or death certificate if it applies
- Home-country ID card copies of you and both parents
- Bank balance certificate of 16,000,000 won or more, in your own or a parent's name (the financial guarantor)
- Application fee 60,000 won
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, in your own or a parent's name, filed WITH the application. Chinese nationals file a copy when applying and the original after passing, frozen for 1 month. No issue-date limit is printed.
The 2027 plan (not a guide) lists papers the Fall 2026 guide does not ask for: a financial guarantee form, a tuberculosis screening certificate and a bank certificate issued within 3 months of applying. Check the Spring 2027 guide.
Application fee 60,000 won, to the Kyongnam Bank account printed in the guide (a won account and a US dollar account); foreign transfer fees are yours. No refund once paid, none if you fail, and no waiver is printed.
An application is cancelled automatically if the fee is not paid inside the submission period.
Filed applications and fees are not returned. If any paper is missing, the review cannot go ahead and the standard admission letter may not be issued.
Posted papers: check their arrival yourself, from about 7 days after sending, by phone, e-mail or messenger; the school takes no responsibility for postal delays. Nothing on the form can be changed once it is filed.
An admitted student who does not pay tuition by the date set loses the admission. Papers the school asks for must arrive by the date set, or the admission may be cancelled even after entry.
Schooled in China at a secondary vocational school that cannot get a certification report? The guide prints a separate table of the papers it accepts (p.5).
No entrance fee is printed anywhere in the guide. The table gives one tuition figure a semester; years 1 and 2 pay 59,500 to 60,500 won more than years 3 and 4 in every band, and the guide does not say why.
Every new and transfer international student gets 50% off tuition (grade A). The guide prints the halved bill too: 1,485,000 to 2,098,250 won a semester in years 1 and 2.
The exact tuition amount and how to pay are told when final results are announced.
Tuition is on the 2026 semester 1 basis and may change with school policy; if it changes you pay the difference. No payment window was printed for Fall 2026: each admitted student was to be told.
Fall 2026 dates: document review in mid-July, results 23 July, entrance ceremony and orientation 28 August, classes from 1 September 2026.
Dormitory, a semester (2026 semester 1 basis, may change): Hanma Residence Hall building C (men) 819,000 won, building D (women) 834,000 won, two-person rooms with shared bathroom and shower.
Design Building 6th floor dormitory for international students: 1,440,000 won a semester, two-person room with private bathroom. Vacation stays and early move-in cost 10,000 won a day per person (Hanma) or 12,000 won (Design Building).
The dormitory office's notice for 2026 semester 2 (posted 1 July 2026) prints 819,000 won (Hanma hall 1, men), 834,000 won (Hanma hall 2, women) and 895,000 won (Hanma hall 3, women) for a stay from 1 September to 21 December 2026.
Meals are separate in that notice: 301,500 won on the 1-meal plan (75 meals) or 573,000 won on the 2-meal plan (150 meals).
New international freshmen (not transfers) may get the dormitory fee paid 1 or 2 times by language score: see Scholarships.
TOPIK test fee support, up to 3 times while enrolled. The notice of 13 July 2026 (newer than the guide) pays 50% of the fee for a result of level 3 or lower and 100% for level 4 or higher; you apply by e-mail in the window it gives.
The guide itself printed that support as 40,000 won (TOPIK I) and 55,000 won (TOPIK II) a test. Students past 8 semesters cannot apply (same notice).
Global Buddy Program: about 170,000 won a semester for 1 year for taking part (Fall 2026 guide). The undated English and Chinese web pages say about 150,000 won.
The cash award for raising your TOPIK level was abolished from the first semester of 2026 (international office notice of 28 January 2026).
National health insurance is compulsory for international students; this guide puts it at about 950,000 won a year (the graduate guide says about 600,000 won).
From the official guide. The school decides what it accepts, not Waegook.
All requirements
- You and both parents are foreign nationals, judged by the nationality in the passport. Recruited outside the quota, so the number of places is not limited
- Not accepted as foreign: you or either parent holding multiple nationality that includes Korean, or being stateless. If this is found later, admission is cancelled even after you pass
- As printed in the guide: an applicant from Taiwan with one Taiwanese parent and one Korean parent is accepted as foreign, on the principle of reciprocity
- If your parents divorced, remarried or died, add papers such as a birth certificate. If the parents' nationality and the family relation cannot be confirmed, the application may be refused
- FRESHMEN (year 1): high school graduate, or due to graduate, in Korea or abroad, or recognised as having equal schooling. The guide says nothing about a GED or homeschooling
- TRANSFERS: year 2 after year 1 (2 semesters) at a four-year university in Korea or abroad; year 3 after year 2 (4 semesters); or a junior college degree for either. Finished or due to finish
- YEAR 4 TRANSFER: graduate (or due to graduate) of a three-year course at a junior college abroad, in the same major as the Kyungnam major. Other transfers may apply whatever their earlier major
- LANGUAGE, one of four: (1) TOPIK 3 or higher (TOPIK 2 for arts and physical education); (2) TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or TEPS 600; (3) a recognised Korean course; (4) a pass in the school's own Korean test (KKPT)
- Recognised Korean courses: the Kyungnam Korean language course, completed; or a Korean course the Ministry of Education recognises (the Social Integration Programme or a King Sejong Institute Korean course)
- Social Integration Programme: pre-test 61 points or more, stage 3 or higher completed. King Sejong Institute Korean course: intermediate 1 or higher completed; online courses are not accepted
- Still finishing the Kyungnam Korean course? You may apply, but you fail automatically if you do not meet the final completion standard
- This guide names no level for the Kyungnam Korean course. The Korean course's own guide (PDF of May 2025) says only people with TOPIK 3, or who completed its Level 4 class, can apply to degree courses. Ask the office which level counts
- TOPIK 2 at entry and TOPIK 3 to graduate are for arts and physical education. The guide prints no list of those units
- Its unit table labels Restoration and Art for Cultural Heritage and Webtoon·Design or Design as arts, and Sports Science as physical education. Ask the office if your unit is one of them
- The TOEFL bar is printed as iBT 71 only, on the old 0 to 120 scale; the guide does not mention the new 1 to 6 scale. Ask the office if your report uses the new scale
- KKPT (Kyungnam Korean Proficiency Test): only for applicants with no language qualification. The Fall 2026 guide printed no test date ("to be announced"); details go to each test taker
- KKPT passers are conditional admits: after entry you register for the Kyungnam Korean supplementary class (a non-regular class) and complete 300 hours, or 150 hours if you get TOPIK 3 in your first semester
- Conditional admits who do not complete those hours cannot graduate: they must extend enrolment and take the supplementary class again
- Fall 2026 let applicants who had only registered for the 106th TOPIK join the document review conditionally; admission is cancelled if the certificate is not filed before entry
- Selection: document review 100% for every unit; an interview may be held if needed. One department only: applying to more than one is forbidden
- To graduate: a TOPIK 4 certificate (TOPIK 3 for arts and physical education), filed with the International Exchange Team before the final exams of your last semester
- If you cannot file that TOPIK certificate for unavoidable reasons: complete the intermediate class or higher at the school's Korean language education centre and file its certificate with the team by the date set
- Units not in the guide's table do not recruit through this admission. Freshmen only, no transfer: Restoration and Art for Cultural Heritage, Future Automotive Engineering and Game Studies
- You must add the Kyungnam admissions officer's messenger account: missing papers, results and tuition notices are sent that way
- If the government refuses your visa, admission is cancelled and tuition (not the application fee) is refunded; bank fees are yours
- FALL 2026 GUIDE (the Korean text is the one used here). The Spring 2027 guide was not posted on 12 October 2026; last year the Spring guide came on 23 October. Both Fall 2026 rounds are over. Units, dates and fees may differ for Spring 2027
- The 2027 academic-year plan (not a guide: no dates, no fees) lists other units: it adds History, Real Estate Economics and Finance, Disaster Safety Construction and Electronic SW Engineering as transfer-only units
- The same plan leaves out Restoration and Art for Cultural Heritage and Game Studies, and says each intake's guide must be checked. So the Spring 2027 unit list is not settled until that guide is posted
