What do I need?
- Application printed from studyinkorea.go.kr (photo and passport uploaded online), study plan (Form 1-2), passport copy, alien registration card copy if you have one
- Family relation or birth certificate showing you, your parents and their nationality (notarised translation); your parents' passport or ID copies. Divorce or death certificate if that applies; Chinese nationals: hukou
- Language score, or the exemption letter (Form 2); Type B adds school diplomas and the immigration entry and exit record
- Bachelor's certificate and full transcript (master's, integrated); master's certificate, transcript and thesis abstract or a note why there is none (PhD); Form 3 for a new field or an interdisciplinary programme
- Bank balance certificate original and the guarantor's employment, income or tax certificate (or business registration); Form 4 or Form 5 if used; portfolio for Industrial Design
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, deposited a month or more, filed WITH the application, in your, a parent's, your supervisor's (Form 4, one student per supervisor) or a sponsor's (Form 5) name. A new one is needed for the visa.
Financial papers issued within 30 days (of the application start on one page, of submission on another); a printed validity counts up to 3 months from issue. No internet printouts. PKNU graduates going straight on: 8,000,000 won from a Korean bank.
Uzbekistan: a local KDB Bank statement, the amount kept until admission, then that account's transaction history. Residents of Korea use a Korean commercial bank.
Expected graduates must graduate before the semester starts and file the degree certificate and final transcript by the set date (Fall 2026: 21 August, 17:00), or admission is cancelled.
No application fee. Entrance fee 178,000 won once. Dormitory: Sejong Hall 1, two-person room, about 2,400,000 won for six months with three meals a day (as of March 2026).
Refunds of tuition (entrance fee excluded): full before the semester; five sixths within 30 days; two thirds to 60 days; half to 90 days; nothing after. To give up admission, ask a week before classes start.

All requirements
- A bachelor's (master's or integrated course) or a master's (PhD), held or expected, from a school recognised by its education ministry. PhD applicants from a different field add Form 3. Transfers: a semester in a similar graduate course
- TYPE A: you and both parents are foreign nationals (as at your birth). TYPE B: all schooling abroad. Korean dual nationals and stateless people cannot apply
- LANGUAGE, one of: TOPIK 3; TOEFL iBT 69, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or New TEPS 202; or an exemption letter (Form 2) from your prospective supervisor or department head. Scores valid two years at the deadline
- TOPIK 4 for Business, International Commerce and Logistics, Social Welfare, Aquatic Life Medicine and Public Administration; TOPIK 5 for Early Childhood Education
- Graduates of a high school or higher in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia or Ireland may use that diploma instead. The language rule is a minimum, not the teaching language
- Contact a prospective supervisor before applying (they sign page 3 of the application), except master's applicants to Business and applicants to Economics, Physical Education and TESOL
- THE FALL 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST (window 13 April to 15 May 2026, closed). The admission page gives Spring 2027 as 12 October to 13 November 2026, but the Spring 2027 guide is not posted yet
- Selection: documents, then a department evaluation such as an interview. Social Welfare takes no transfers
- PKNU is a K-STAR visa track university: graduate degree holders the president recommends can get residence status, then apply for F-5 or special naturalisation after three years of residence
- Global PKNU programme for staff of overseas universities (its Korean title names China), six departments: participants add 600 hours (three terms) of the PKNU Korean Language Program on top of tuition
