Official figures from the source page on the date checked. Estimates are Waegook's. Unknown is shown as not published, never as zero.
What do I need?
- Application form with one photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within six months, white background); passport copy (Type C: passport and alien registration card copies)
- Final school graduation certificate original with an apostille or consular confirmation (Type C: a copy); final transcript original, not needed from OECD member countries (list in the guide)
- Types A and B: bank balance certificate original of 8,000,000 won or more in your, a parent's or a guarantor's name, issued within 30 days
- If a parent or guarantor holds the funds: a notarised family relation certificate and their employment or tax certificate
THE BANK BALANCE IS 8,000,000 WON OR MORE for Types A and B (the English guide misprints it as "KRW 8,00,000, approximately USD 6,000"; the Korean guide governs).
Types A and B pay 2,600,000 won for the two-term minimum, a 60,000 won admission fee for new students (not refundable), 110,000 insurance for a year and about 80,000 for books. Type C: 1,300,000 for one term, about 40,000 for books, no admission fee.
One-term applicants pay 50,000 won for three months of insurance. No separate application fee is printed. The dormitory (about 2,600,000 won for two terms) is optional.

All requirements
- High school graduate (or expected) or equivalent. TYPE A applies for a D-4 visa from abroad; TYPE B changes to or extends a D-4 in Korea; TYPE C already holds a visa allowing a stay of 90 days or more
- Types A and B register for at least two terms (the D-4 minimum); Type C may take a single term
- RESTRICTED COUNTRIES (Types A and B only): the 2026 guide says some countries may be limited, using Ministry of Justice figures, and announced on the website. No 2026 list is posted; the newest (2025 list, 9 December 2024) names:
- Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Nepal, Mali, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Iran, Egypt, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Peru, Cameroon, Kyrgyzstan. Type C applicants are not restricted
- The printed exception, for Mongolia and Vietnam only: you may apply if you come from a PKNU partner institution, or are a relative (up to first cousin) of a PKNU student or of someone living in Busan
- That exception does not cover the Vietnamese provinces printed as Nghe An, Ha Tint and Quang An. Ask the office whether the 2025 list still applies before you apply
- THE 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST: it runs to the Winter term ending 12 February 2027. No 2027 terms or dates are published yet
- Types A and B e-mail PDFs to [email protected] first, then post or deliver the originals; Type C e-mails PDFs only. Some applicants are interviewed
- Arrive by the entry deadline (Winter 2026: 3 December) or admission is cancelled; a refund asked for before the term is paid in full. Type B first confirms with the immigration call centre (1345) that a D-4 change or extension is possible
- Top 5% of a term: 50% off the next term's fee; the next 5%: 30% (paid first, refunded later). Attendance and completion prizes are small gifts
- Two consecutive terms here (PASS) with 85% attendance, starting a PKNU degree within a year: about 80% off the first semester with TOPIK 4 (freshmen) or 5 (transfers), about 40% with TOPIK 3
- Dormitory: Sejong Hall 1, two-person room, about 2,600,000 won for six months with three meals and utilities, curfew 01:00. Apply by the Type A deadline. Summer and winter starters move in a month after classes begin
- Refunds: full before the term; two thirds before a third of it; half before half; nothing after
