What do I need?
- Online application, with a self-introduction and an optional pre-test Apply
- Passport copy
- Diploma and transcript of your last school, apostilled or consular-confirmed. Still at university? An enrolment certificate and transcript
- D-4: original bank statement, 10,000,000 won or more, issued within 30 days
- Countries on SKKU's list: family relationship or birth certificate, parents' ID, parents' employment and income certificates
- More than a year since your last school: papers showing what you did, such as an employment certificate
- Your alien registration card, front and back, if you have held one
- Optional, countries on SKKU's list: a letter of guarantee from a Korean citizen living in Korea, notarised, with their ID, employment and a financial record
YOU APPLY FOR THE VISA YOURSELF, in person. SLI issues the standard certificate of admission once your online application is complete and every paper is in.
If the embassy refuses your visa, SLI refunds the tuition but not the 80,000 application fee.
Already hold a visa that allows study, such as D-2 or F? Tell SLI before you apply. Papers are not returned.

All requirements
- High school graduate or higher on the day you apply, and 18 or older
- Your final diploma must carry an apostille or Korean consular confirmation
- A D-4 student visa means registering for at least two sessions, which SKKU calls six months
- D-4: an original bank statement showing at least 10,000,000 won, issued within 30 days of applying, in your name or a parent's. A parent's account needs a family relationship certificate
- Uzbekistan: the 10,000,000 won sits with a Korean bank's branch there, held three months or more. Vietnam: a frozen study-abroad deposit confirmation from Shinhan, Woori or Hana in Vietnam
- SKKU's list of Ministry of Justice countries: Philippines, Peru, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Egypt, Ukraine, Iran, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Nepal, Ghana and Nigeria
- Citizens of those countries add parents' ID, parents' employment and income certificates, and a family relationship or birth certificate, unless they graduated from a Korean university
- Nepal, Mongolia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Vietnam apply by an earlier deadline, for visa time. Nepal and Myanmar close two weeks before it
- SLI checks attendance every day and reports it to immigration. A session may close early if it fills
