What do I need?
- Application form, typed into the online system Apply
- Self-introduction and study plan, up to 3,000 bytes each, about 600 English words
- Two recommendation letters from two different people, submitted online by them
- Proof of Korean or English, or official proof your whole degree was taught in Korean or English
- Bachelor's graduation or degree certificate, and a master's for a PhD
- Transcripts showing every semester
- Passport copies for you and both parents
- A document showing your relationship to both parents, such as a birth certificate
- Optional: other language scores, awards and scholarships, a thesis abstract
NOTHING GOES BY POST TO APPLY. Scans are uploaded, one file per item, 8 MB each. Originals go by post only after a preliminary offer.
A document missing at the deadline disqualifies you. Nothing can be added later.
The 90,000 fee is paid online and cannot be refunded.
If you have never studied at a Korean school, tick SNU's graduate scholarship (GSFS) on the form: up to two years of tuition and a living allowance.

- You and both parents hold foreign nationality. If any of you was Korean, it had to be given up before 9 July 2026
- A GED, homeschooling or cyber study is NOT accepted
- Chosen on your documents alone: grades, aptitude for the subject, language and activities. SNU publishes no quota and no applicant numbers
- A bachelor's by 28 February 2027 for a master's, a master's for a PhD. An overseas degree awarded in March 2027 counts if the course ends by February
