What do I need?
- Essay on GSIS's form, up to two pages Forms
- Diploma or expected-graduation certificate, apostilled or consular-authenticated
- Official transcripts, apostilled or consular-authenticated, converted to a 4.0, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0 or 100-point scale if yours is different
- English test report taken within two years (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC or New TEPS), unless exempt
- Colour copy of your passport
- Consent form for degree verification, on GSIS's form
- PhD: one sealed recommendation letter on GSIS's form, and a research writing sample. Master's: one letter, optional
- Degrees from China: a CDGDC or CHSI verification report
SPRING 2027 DATES ARE NOT PUBLISHED. GSIS has posted only its Fall 2026 guideline, whose applications ran 14 to 24 April 2026.
SCANS TO APPLY: everything is uploaded to the portal. The recommender emails the letter from an institutional address, or it goes sealed by post.
IF ADMITTED every original goes by post or by hand, apostilled, by the date GSIS sets (1 July for Fall 2026 entry).
The Certificate of Admission for the D-2 visa comes only after your originals, tuition and a bank balance of at least 20,000,000 won are confirmed. The certificate must be issued after you pay.
The fee is 90,000 won or USD 90, by bank transfer, and is not refunded.

All requirements
- A bachelor's degree for the master's, a master's for the PhD, awarded at least two months before the semester starts
- Any undergraduate major may apply
- You and both parents hold foreign citizenship, or you studied abroad from elementary school to university
- Document screening, then an interview in English. From outside Korea it can be on Zoom
- New students can get 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% off first-semester tuition, set by the admissions committee on the admission result
- From the second semester, scholarships follow your GPA: at least 9 credits and 3.5 out of 4.3 (4.0 for a PhD)
