What do I need?
- Application form, filled in online after you join the site (post and in-person applications are not accepted); a study plan in Korean, English, Chinese or Japanese
- Photo (passport or ID photo); passport copy (photo page); alien registration card copy if you hold one; proof that the 60,000 won application fee was paid; the personal information consent form
- Graduation certificate (or diploma) and transcript. On another visa or visa-free: a copy, with a notarised translation if it is not in Korean or English
- D-4 applicants post the originals: the certificate and transcript with an apostille or consular confirmation (on the original and the translation if not in Korean or English), issued within 6 months of the application date
- Bank balance certificate, original, for D-4: 10,000 US dollars or more in your own name, issued within 30 days of the application date. A parent's certificate needs a family relation certificate
- Applicants from the 4-term countries listed under Requirements add a Korean guarantor's letter of guarantee, ID copy, employment certificate and business registration copy
- A tuberculosis certificate if you are a national of one of the 35 countries on the institute's list (printed whole on its admission page)
- Papers proving your activity, if more than 2 years have passed since your last graduation
- Students from mainland China: the page says your papers differ and sends you to its Chinese-language page
THE BANK BALANCE FOR D-4 IS 10,000 US DOLLARS OR MORE: an original in your own name, issued within 30 days of the application date (undated admission page).
The same page prints two country rules. "D-4 applicants from China" (중국 D4비자 신청자): an original deposit certificate of 10,000,000 won or more in your own name, issued within 30 days of the application date and frozen for 6 months or more.
For those D-4 applicants from China the page also says a certificate in a parent's name needs an apostilled kinship certificate, and it lists more papers (household register, ID copies, credential reports).
"In the case of Vietnam" (베트남의 경우): a study-fund deposit confirmation issued by a Korean financial institution there.
The English version of the page prints the general bank rule differently (10,000,000 won, held for six months). The Korean page is shown here: ask the institute if you rely on the English one.
Fees (undated fee page): tuition 1,660,000 won a term, textbooks 70,000 won a term, application fee 60,000 won once; total printed 1,790,000 won. The leaflet of 31 October 2025 prints 1,720,000 won, without the textbooks.
Only the Winter 2026 term is shown, because no 2027 term dates are posted. The dated calendar notice is used; the undated schedule page prints the placement test one day later.

All requirements
- High school graduation or higher, or an equal level
- Four terms a year (spring, summer, fall, winter): 10 weeks, 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), 4 hours a day, 200 hours in total. Levels 1 to 6
- Class times: morning 09:10 to 13:00 or afternoon 14:00 to 17:50. The afternoon class may not open if too few enrol
- The newest calendar is for 2026 (notice posted 10 November 2025, updated 10 April 2026). Its last term is Winter 2026, 1 December 2026 to 12 February 2027. No 2027 calendar is posted yet (checked 12 October 2026)
- The course schedule page says a D-4 applicant should usually apply about a month and a half before classes start
- D-4 applicants must register for at least 2 terms. Nationals of the countries listed in the next two lines must register for 4 terms. Payment is in one sum
- The 4-term list, as the page prints it (its heading says 21 countries plus 5; 25 names are printed): the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Iran,
- Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Ghana, Egypt, Peru, Guinea, "밀리", Uganda, Ethiopia, Cameroon
- One name on that list is misprinted on the page: the Korean page prints "밀리" and its English version prints "Millie". No other page of the school prints the list, so ask the institute if the rule may apply to you
- The guarantor rule on the same page reads "21 countries (China excluded) and 5 countries", which matches the 25 names printed
- Applicants from the countries on that list also file a Korean guarantor's letter of guarantee, ID copy, employment certificate and business registration copy
- The institute issues the admission letter only: you apply for the D-4 visa yourself. A one-term student needs a visa of their own or a visa-free stay of 90 days or less
- If more than 2 years have passed since your last graduation, add papers proving what you did in that time
- Tuition cannot be paid in instalments. The application fee is paid once, at the start, and is not refunded
- Refunds (undated fee page): all tuition before the term starts, less the application fee and insurance. After the start the refund shrinks by class days, and from class day 41 nothing is returned. Textbooks you have taken are not refunded
- Attendance award, regular course only: 100,000 won off the next term for a previous-term score of 70 or more with 100% attendance and no lateness
- Grade award, regular course only: 200,000 won off the next term for the top student in a class (attendance 80% or more, score 80 or more, class of 7 or more). Both awards together give 300,000 won at most
- D-4 extension: attendance of 70% or less may limit the extension
- Sookmyung degree link: level 3 here (finished or expected), or a level 3 pass on the Sookmyung Korean alternative test, meets the undergraduate Korean rule; level 4 or higher meets the graduate one
- Sookmyung Korean alternative test, fee 50,000 won. November 2026 sitting: apply 5 November 10:00 to 12 November 13:00 (Korean time); test 19 November 14:00; result 26 November 17:00 (notice posted 9 February 2026)
- Other courses on the fee page: short course 780,000 won, plus 70,000 for textbooks and a 40,000 application fee; TOPIK preparation class 160,000 won plus a 40,000 application fee. Winter 2026 short course: 1 to 21 December 2026
- The dormitory cost for language students is not printed on the institute site; it sends you to the dormitory office
