What can I study?
- TESL major
- Global Cooperation major
- Entrepreneurship major
Published by Sookmyung Women's University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form, printed after the online application; consent to an academic record check (Form 2)
- High school graduation (or expected) certificate and transcript for all years, with an apostille or Korean consular confirmation for schools abroad
- The transcript must show a grade point on a 4.0, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0 or 100 point scale. If the school cannot issue that, a WES (wes.org) or Foreign Credits (foreigncredits.com) conversion
- Transfers: the high school graduation certificate, plus the university enrolment (or completion, graduation or expected graduation) certificate and transcript, each with an apostille or consular confirmation
- Foreign nationality proof for you and both parents: passport copies of all three, plus a birth certificate or family relation certificate
- Chinese nationals add resident ID card copies for the applicant and parents; the household register may be requested. Birth, family and household register papers must be issued within 6 months of the document deadline
- Schools in China: a CHSI (chsi.com.cn) online verification report in English for regular high schools; transcripts need an English notarised translation plus an apostille. The certificate takes about 30 days
- By case: Korean score (TOPIK or a substitute); English score for the English track; English self-introduction (required on the English track; one A4 page or less for the School of Global Service); ARC copy if you live in Korea
- Portfolio, arts applicants only: Dance, Piano, Orchestral Instruments, Vocal Music, Composition, Visual and Multimedia Design, Industrial Design, Environmental Design, Painting
- Optional: anyone who wishes may add a self-introduction and a recommendation letter (guide p.10). On the English track the English self-introduction is required, not optional
TUITION IS NOT PRINTED. The Spring 2027 guide has no tuition table; it says only that the entrance fee and tuition follow the rate for that semester and major. The school publishes no international tuition table. Ask the office.
What the school does print: the minutes of its tuition committee of 23 December 2025 say that, for 2026, the entrance fee for international undergraduates is abolished and their tuition goes up 4.5%. No won amounts are printed.
The Spring 2027 guide still speaks of an entrance fee, and the Fall 2026 admitted-student guide says the entrance fee is not refunded. No document prints an amount, so none is shown here. Ask the office whether one applies.
Application fee 150,000 won, paid through the Jinhaksa online system. No refund once the application is complete. A transfer to the school account makes the application invalid.
BANK BALANCE: the Spring 2027 guide prints no amount. It says round 1 and round 2 applicants hand in the financial proof after passing, and that the proof is valid for 1 month from issue.
Fall 2026 figure; Spring 2027 not printed: a bank deposit certificate of 20,000,000 won or more in your own name, issued within 1 month of the deadline, original by post (Fall 2026 round 3 admitted-student guide, 14 July 2026).
Same Fall 2026 guide: required if you have no visa or hold D-4 or D-10; optional for F and E visa holders. Abroad and not in your own name: add the sponsor's employment certificate or business registration.
Results: round 1 on 27 November 2026, round 2 on 6 January 2027, round 3 on 15 January 2027. Tuition is paid "in January 2027"; the exact dates come with the result. The semester starts 2 March 2027 (planned).
Dormitory, Fall 2026 figure; Spring 2027 not printed: a 4-month semester costs 1,620,000 won (four-person room, Haebang Tower) to 2,424,000 won (two-person room, International House 1 and 2), on the dormitory site.
The Spring 2027 guide says only that the dormitory fee differs by dormitory type. The dormitory site says fees may go up, and that a vacation stay means paying a 2-month fee before the vacation begins.
Dormitory: students not selected for lack of space find housing off campus. Entry needs a chest X-ray report from within 3 months of move-in and proof of two MMR doses (Fall 2026 guide). Enquiries +82-2-6325-3100, inthouse@sookmyung.ac.kr.
A conditional pass holder must pay tuition to complete registration and then apply for leave; the tuition paid is refunded in full after the semester starts (guide p.14).
Admission can be cancelled, even after entry, if your visa is refused or is not issued within 30 days of the start of the semester (guide p.15).
New students are reviewed for the entrance scholarship without a form: 20 to 90% off first-semester tuition fees by language level (see Scholarships).
Questions: Office of International Admissions, undergraduate line +82-2-710-9813, admission@sm.ac.kr (Spring 2027 guide).

- English-track exemption: nationals of a country where English is the mother tongue or a legal official language. If the country has another official language too, add a paper showing your schooling was in English
- English self-introduction: the guide says English-track applicants must hand one in (p.10), and its tables name the School of Global Service (both majors), one A4 page or less. TESL applicants: send one too, or ask the office
- Selection: document review, except the interview departments (Dance, Piano, Orchestral Instruments, Vocal Music, Composition, Visual and Multimedia Design, Industrial Design, Environmental Design), which add an interview and practical test
- Interview departments, if you are not in Korea: dance, piano, orchestral and vocal send a USB recording of the practical test, composition sends two scores, design is judged on a portfolio. Each then has a video or online interview
- To graduate, Korean-track students need TOPIK 4 or higher (IBT included); arts and physical education majors need TOPIK 3 or higher
- The two Hallyu International College divisions take freshmen only. Transfers into Piano and Orchestral Instruments are only for the same detailed major. The guide prints no list of closed majors: units not in its table are not offered
