What do I need?
- Application form (school form, with photo, study plan, study-cost pledge and funding plan); high school graduation (or expected) certificate; academic verification (government certificate, consular confirmation or apostille)
- Full high school transcript; passport copy; ARC copy if you hold one; proof that you and both parents are foreign nationals (ID, family relation or birth certificate) if it applies
- Bank balance certificate; national health insurance copy if you hold one. University or college graduates and students add that certificate, its academic verification and 2 transcripts
- Other visa holders in Korea: application form, passport copy, ARC copy, and the health insurance copy if you hold one
THE BANK BALANCE FOR D-4-1 IS 8,000,000 WON OR MORE, in your own name (another person's name needs a relationship certificate). The form's finance page prints "6 months, 8,000,000 won". Your parents' income proof may be asked.
Paid on entry: 5,200,000 won tuition (1,300,000 x 4 terms) and 2,188,000 won dormitory (4 terms; key deposit and meals extra), total 7,388,000 won. Amounts may differ by applicant. No application fee is printed.
Without national health insurance you are enrolled after 6 months in Korea and need private insurance until then.

All requirements
- THE 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST: it covers the four 2026 terms, the last (Winter) ending 22 January 2027. No 2027 terms or dates are published yet
- D-4-1 (language student visa): a foreign national with a high school diploma after 12 years of school. Equivalency exams, homeschooling and cyber learning are not accepted
- D-4-1 applicants are accepted only if their identity is vouched for, for example on a partner institution's recommendation
- Apply any time up to the term deadline; applicants abroad have an earlier deadline than those in Korea. Results by e-mail; tuition dates are sent to you. No quota: everyone who passes the document review is admitted
- Holders of other visas already in Korea: any legal status that allows language study at a Korean university, no nationality or age limit; check with the office first that you may apply
- If the visa or a change of status is refused, the admission is cancelled and tuition refunded under the refund rule. Some applicants living abroad must give the embassy a health certificate (including TB)
- Classes Monday to Friday: speaking 8, reading 4, listening 4 and writing 4 hours a week. TOPIK prep classes and the SCH Korean test (it counts for Soonchunhyang degree admission) are offered
- Visa extension needs 70% attendance each term; moving up a level needs 70% attendance and an average of 65 points
- Refunds: full before classes; two thirds before a third of the class days; half before half; nothing after
- Scholarships follow the school's internal rule; no amounts are printed. A separate 5-week course exists for foreigners already living in Korea (its files are dated 2025)
