What do I need?

• Online application form and a colour passport copy
• Final school graduation certificate and transcript: CHSI or CDGDC report for China; apostille or Korean consulate authentication elsewhere, issued within six months, with a notarised translation if not in Korean or English
• Bank balance certificate issued within 30 days
• Chinese nationals: hukou copy, kinship certificate and the parents' employment certificate
• If you have them: alien registration card, transcript and attendance from another language institute; any extra paper the centre asks for, such as a guarantor letter

THE BANK BALANCE IS 10,000,000 WON OR MORE in your own name, issued within 30 days of the application.

Entrance fee 70,000 won once at first entry, paid with the first term's tuition to the university's Woori Bank account; underpayment means no admission, overpayment is not returned. Textbooks extra; insurance about 60,000 to 70,000 won for seven months.

Dormitory for 12 weeks: Residence Hall two-person 1,117,000 won; Global Brain Hall two-person 586,000 (women, shared bathroom) or four-person 477,000; places are limited, apply with the admission form.

Term prizes: the top student of each level and of each class get an award (amounts not printed); Soongsil exchange and graduate students get 30% off.

All requirements

• Apply online in the window (the 1st to the 20th of the month two months before the term); acceptance and invoice in one to two weeks, then pay and e-mail the receipt to get the Certificate of Admission
• Students who need no D-4 visa may apply up to two weeks before the term; late applications go by e-mail
• D-4-1 visa: register for at least two terms (some nationalities four or more, see the centre's notices). The first D-4 is granted for six months and extended at Seoul Immigration
• Entering Korea later than two weeks after the term starts cancels the admission and the visa; a refused embassy visa cancels the admission
• C-3, working holiday and D-2 holders may study the first term on their visa; a change to D-4 is possible from the second term with two more terms
• Finishing level 3 replaces TOPIK for a Soongsil degree; finishing level 4 also waives the Soongsil Korean test and gives 40% off the first undergraduate semester
• Refunds: full before the term, then 80, 60, 40 and 20% by ten-day steps in the first 40 days, no refund from day 41; only to a Korean bank account in your name; the refund table covers tuition only
