What can I study?
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Food Science and Biotechnology
- Biotechnology
Published by Sungshin Women's University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form, printed after the online application (original); personal statement and study plan in English or Korean, written online and printed (original)
- Passport copy (the page with your nationality and photo); alien registration card copy, front and back, only if you hold one
- Language score report, original (TOPIK, IELTS or TOEFL iBT). Sungshin Korean course level 4 completers applying without TOPIK write "TOPIK 대체서류" at the top right of the completion certificate
- Freshmen: high school graduation (or expected) certificate and transcript for all years, originals with an apostille or consular confirmation. The transcript must show grades by semester or year with percentage scores or the full-mark scale
- Transfers: previous university completion or graduation certificate and a transcript for all semesters, originals with an apostille or consular confirmation. The same transcript rule applies: percentage scores or the full-mark scale
- Schools in Korea: the original certificate, plus the school record (학교생활기록부) with all years' grades for a high school, or the transcript with all semesters' grades for a university. The guide asks an apostille only of schools abroad
- Proof of the family relationship between you and your parents, original; copies of both parents' passports, or national ID copies if they have no passport
- School forms with a handwritten signature, originals: consent to verify education, and the financial guarantee pledge. One guarantor can guarantee only one student, and you cannot be your own guarantor
- Bank balance certificate, original: 20,000,000 won or more. Only admitted students file it, right after paying tuition in each round
- If they apply to you: language institute completion certificate and transcript; other extras such as national university entrance exam results (SAT, A-Level, IB, gaokao), other language scores and awards
THE BANK BALANCE IS 20,000,000 WON OR MORE, filed only by admitted students right after tuition is paid in each round. The balance must be kept until the admission date.
The certificate is in your own name in principle; a parent alone is accepted as financial guarantor only when unavoidable (Korean guide; the English version says your name or a parent's).
Already registered as a foreigner and staying in Korea: only a balance certificate in your own name from a bank in Korea is accepted, and proof of overseas remittance may be asked for.
Bank rules by country, as printed: China, only an original issued within 30 days of the visa issue (or change) application date; Uzbekistan, only a KDB bank certificate;
Vietnam, a certificate from a Korean financial institution in Vietnam or a designated local bank (Vietinbank, Vietcombank, Agribank, Techcombank).
If more checking is needed, the school may ask for your parents' proof of means: employees, employment and social insurance payment certificates; self-employed, business registration and 6 months of transactions; others, pension proof.
Application fee: 150,000 won for general departments, 170,000 won for arts, music and physical education departments. Not refunded once the application is complete. No fee exception and no entrance fee are printed in the guide.
Tuition is paid by Flywire or by transfer to a Korean bank account; overseas remittance is not allowed. Entry-semester scholarships are NOT taken off the bill: you pay in full and the award is paid to you during the first semester.
If you sent copies, hand in the originals by 19 February 2027. Orientation: online 12 February 2027, on campus 25 February 2027. The semester starts 2 March 2027. All times are Korea Standard Time and the schedule may change.
Results are posted on the admissions site (ipsi.sungshin.ac.kr); you are not told individually. Other notices during the process go to the e-mail address on your application. Tuition not paid in the window cancels the admission.
Still due to graduate? Hand in the graduation certificate after final admission, again with an apostille or consular confirmation.
If your name is written differently on any paper, add a paper proving you are the same person, issued by a court or the head of a diplomatic mission of your country. Submitted papers are not returned.
Photo for the application: colour, 3 x 4 cm, taken within the last 3 months. Put the papers in the listed order and write your name and the name of the paper at the bottom right of each.
Family proof examples as printed: China, household register (hukou) and kinship certificate (if you, your father and your mother are on separate household registers, every one of them must be filed);
Vietnam, residence information certificate or family register (So Ho Khau) plus birth certificate (Giay khai sinh); Mongolia, kinship certificate; Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Thailand, birth certificate;
Myanmar, family relation certificate; the Philippines, Family Census; Indonesia, Kartu Keluarga.
If your country issues no family relationship paper, an official paper that states your parents' nationality, such as a birth certificate, can replace it. Parents divorced, remarried or deceased: add the paper that proves it.
Schools in China, as printed (guide p.14 and p.16): general high schools (freshmen) and colleges or universities (transfers) file the Verification Report from the education ministry's certification centre (CHSI).
The guide names two places that issue that report: the certification centre itself (chsi.com.cn) and the Seoul Confucius Academy (renew.kongzi.co.kr).
Vocational and other secondary schools in China that get no such report follow the table on guide p.16 (graduation certificate with a Korean consular confirmation or an apostille, and the school information form where asked).
Dormitory, Spring 2027 (24 February to 30 June 2027), a semester: off-campus halls (6 buildings, international students only) single room 2,940,000 won, double or triple 1,750,000, quad 1,537,500; The House double 2,097,380.
Sungmiryo (run by the school; shared toilet, shower and kitchen): single 2,677,500 won, double 1,859,380, triple 1,487,500, quad 1,115,630. Dormitory fees and the period may change.

Other support in the guide: TOPIK test fee support once a year and a free health check once a year.
Health: the guide says international students are enrolled in National Health Insurance as local subscribers (since March 2021). The entry health check is held after you enter; its dates are posted later on the school site.
For enrolled students the guide also lists a needs-based award on the recommendation of the office in charge, and the Global Plus award (Global Friends team programme, or work scholarship pay by hours): part of living costs, no amount.
Admission questions: International Affairs and Services Team, +82-2-920-7994, intadmission@sungshin.ac.kr. Scholarship questions: Student Affairs and Services Team, +82-2-920-7012.

All requirements
- You and both parents are all foreign nationals, from before you started the course equal to high school. Holders of Korean nationality as one of two nationalities cannot apply. There is no limit on where your school is
- Only women can apply to every unit except the International School of Korean Culture and Technology; the International School is open to all genders
- FRESHMEN: graduated from a high school in Korea or abroad, or due to graduate in February 2027. A GED or other qualification exam in Korea or abroad, homeschooling and cyber learning are not recognised
- TRANSFERS (year 3): 2 years or 4 semesters or more at a regular 4-year university with at least half the minimum credits for a bachelor's degree, or a 2 to 3 year college degree (February 2027 finishers included), or an equal qualification
- Transfer credits: credits from summer or winter sessions count, but a session is not a semester. If your school issues no completion certificate, you need half the minimum degree credits (two thirds at a 3-year UK-system university)
- KOREAN: TOPIK 3 or higher. If you completed level 4 or higher at the Sungshin Korean Language Center you can apply without a TOPIK score
- Arts and physical education departments and Fashion Industry also take TOPIK 2 or higher; you must then take 300 hours or more of Korean at the Sungshin Korean course during your first year
- TOPIK PBT and regular TOPIK IBT sittings both count; the TOPIK IBT pilot sitting does not. A score must be inside its 2-year validity on the application closing date
- If you enter with TOPIK 3 or lower, you must reach TOPIK 4 or higher before you graduate
- Transfers enter year 3. The guide allows year-4 entry only into Beauty Industry, for holders of a 3-year associate degree or higher in the same field
- Selection: document review 100%, judged as a whole on three things: academic ability, career readiness and community skills. Some applicants may be given an interview or a practical test to verify documents; no dates are fixed
- You can apply to one unit only. There is no fixed number of places: selection follows each department's capacity and your ability
- Round 2 is meant for students already staying in Korea and students who can get a visa quickly: its Certificate of Admission is issued only from 3 February 2027
- SPRING 2027 GUIDE (the Korean version prevails), posted 30 September 2026. Round 1: 21 October to 2 December 2026. Round 2: 4 to 11 January 2027. Chinese, Vietnamese and Mongolian versions are to follow
