Published by Tongmyong University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Application form with consent, personal statement, and a research plan for the PhD (set form)
• Passport copy, three photos, alien registration card if held; overseas applicants who want the dormitory add a TB test with chest X-ray from a designated hospital
• Both parents' passports or IDs and a family relationship or birth certificate
• Language score if you have one
• Bachelor's certificate and transcript, authenticated (apostille, Korean consul, or CHSI and CDGDC for China); PhD applicants add the master's certificate and transcript, and a recommendation from the target department head if changing field
• Bank balance certificate copy, filed separately on a date the office notifies

THE BANK BALANCE IS USD 12,000 OR 16,000,000 WON in your or a parent's name, frozen until the semester starts, issued from 30 days before the round opens; in Korea 16,000,000 in your own name issued in the window. The English guide adds 8,000,000 for Tongmyong Korean-course graduates.

Application fee 70,000 won online; entrance fee 550,000 won once; insurance 250,000 a year; dormitory about 1,900,000 won for six months with meals, optional.

All requirements

• A bachelor's (master's) or a master's (PhD) held or expected before entry; you and both parents foreign nationals, no dual nationals. Final certificates by 22 February 2027
• KOREAN TRACK (General and Welfare Industry graduate schools): TOPIK 3 or an interview; without the level you take the university Korean course (two semesters, 1,200,000 won)
• ENGLISH TRACK (International Graduate School only): IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (PBT 550) or TEPS 550, or fully English-medium schooling, or an interview when needed. The score must be valid past 2 March 2027
• General Graduate School courses run two years; the Welfare Industry and International graduate schools two and a half. Transfers into a running course consult the team first
• Not every department takes transfers or PhDs: Naval Architecture, Global Humanities Content, Security Policy, Sports Science and Pet Health are master's only; Beauty Arts is PhD only
• SCHOLARSHIP CONTRADICTION: the Korean 2027 guide asks GPA 3.8 for the foreign-student awards A and B, the English guide and the graduate school site say 3.0; ask +82-51-629-3012
