What do I need?
- Application form with a photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm); self-introduction with a study plan; passport copy with 6 months or more left
- Family relation certificate, original and copy, showing you and your parents or spouse (add a notarised paper if it does not); ID copies of both parents
- Graduation certificate of your final school (high school or higher), original and copy; transcript of that school, original and copy
- Education verification, issued within 3 months of the visa application: apostille; consular confirmation for non-apostille countries; China, a CHSI report (general high school) or a consul-confirmed graduation certificate (vocational)
- Translator's confirmation (immigration office form) when a paper is translated
- Bank balance certificate, 8,000,000 won (6,500 USD) or more: handed in AFTER you pass
THE BANK BALANCE FOR D-4 IS 8,000,000 WON (6,500 USD) OR MORE in your own name, handed in after you pass. How it is proved differs for the four groups the guide prints (general countries, China, Vietnam, Uzbekistan): see the course rules.
Dormitory (2026 rate, one semester, vacation not included): two-person room 809,000 won; meals optional, one meal a day 477,000, two 836,000, three 1,075,000. It can change under the dormitory rules.
The undergraduate guide prints the same 809,000 won for a 15-week semester. The language guide does not say how a 10-week term is charged: ask the centre.
The English version of the guide (posted 2026-04-16) differs in places. The guide says the Korean version prevails, and the Korean text is what is shown here.

All requirements
- A foreigner or overseas Korean who finished high school or higher, or holds an equal qualification
- Selection: document review, then an interview (on site, by phone or by video) for those who pass the documents. Graded pass or fail
- Each term: 160 hours, 4 hours a day, 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday, 09:00 to 13:00), 10 weeks. Four terms and 640 hours a year. Levels 1 to 6; classes can be closed or merged by enrolment
- D-4-1 VISA: you must register for at least 2 terms (6 months). Registration is cancelled if you cannot enter Korea within 14 days of the term start
- How to apply: the guide says every applicant must hand in the papers (originals and copies) by post or in person by the closing day. The centre's FAQ page (read 12 October 2026) says to e-mail the form and papers to bon6033@wku.ac.kr
- The two differ, so ask the centre which it wants for your term (+82-63-850-5504). The school issues the standard admission letter and you apply for the visa yourself. Admission is cancelled if the visa is refused
- BANK BALANCE: four groups are printed (general countries, China, Vietnam, Uzbekistan), all at 8,000,000 won (6,500 USD) or more in your own name. General countries and China: an original issued within 30 days of the visa application date
- Vietnam: the money is deposited and frozen at a Vietnamese branch or subsidiary of a Korean commercial bank, which issues a study-cost deposit certificate showing the amount, the freeze and its period
- Uzbekistan: a balance certificate from a Korean financial institution located there, with the balance kept for 3 months or more. The guide names these four groups only
- Fees: tuition 1,100,000 won a term; application and textbook fee 100,000 won and insurance 100,000 won, both once at first admission. The guide totals one year (4 terms) at 4,600,000 won. Living costs and the dormitory are extra
- Refunds: before the term starts, all tuition for the remaining terms; up to one third of the term, two thirds of that term's tuition; up to one half, half; after that, nothing. The application fee is never refunded
- Insurance: you must take private insurance after arrival; you join the National Health Insurance 6 months after alien registration
- DEGREE LINK: 2 terms (20 weeks) or more here meet the Korean graduation rule for a Wonkwang bachelor's degree. For a graduate degree the 2 terms must be taken after you enter the course
- Completers of 2 terms or more get 100% off the first semester of undergraduate tuition (Korean guides). A trainee applying to an undergraduate course can prove half the usual bank balance
- Trainees who go on to a Wonkwang bachelor's degree with TOPIK: level 3, 50% off; level 4, 60%; level 5 or higher, 100% (the undergraduate guide says the share is of tuition)
- The 2026 guide also prints an evening TOPIK preparation class for degree students (학위과정반), applied for at the centre: 120 hours, 3 hours a day, 4 days a week, 10 weeks, 18:00 to 21:00 (2026: 16 March to 14 May, 14 September to 24 November)
- TERMS: the 2026 guide prints five terms, Spring 2026 to Spring 2027. Summer, Fall and Winter 2027 are not printed anywhere yet. The Korean text of the guide prevails over the English version
