What can I study?
- Division of Business Administration: Business Administration, Glocal Business Administration
- Division of Economics, Finance, Accounting and Taxation: Accounting and Taxation, Economics and Finance
- Years 2, 3 and 4: Business Administration; Accounting and Taxation; Economics and Finance
Published by Wonkwang University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form and personal information consent (school forms); 2 colour photos, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background, your name on the back
- Freshmen: high school graduation (or expected) certificate, original, and full transcript, copy. Transfers: junior college or university graduation (or expected) or completion certificate, original, and full transcript, copy
- Final education verification, original, issued within 3 months. Freshmen: high school. Transfers: high school plus the bachelor enrolment (or graduation) verification, or the associate degree verification
- How it is verified: apostille; consular confirmation for non-apostille countries; China, a report from the Ministry of Education verification centre (CHSI); or another report recognised in the Ministry of Justice student visa guideline
- Passport copy with 6 months or more of validity; alien registration card copy if you live in Korea (the table marks it for freshmen only); family relation certificate, copy; ID copies of both parents
- Korean language proof if you hold it; awards and a portfolio, copies, only for arts and sports applicants who have them; translator's confirmation (school form) and a copy of the translator's ID when a paper is translated
- Bank balance certificate, original, 16,000,000 won or more: handed in AFTER you pass, issued inside the registration period
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, in your own name, issued within 1 month. It is handed in after you pass, inside the registration period, in two originals: one for immigration or the Korean mission abroad, one for Wonkwang.
China: the certificate must stay valid (deposit frozen) for 3 months or more. Already in Korea, for a D-4 to D-2 change or a D-2 extension: a Korean deposit certificate, same amount, your own name, within 1 month of issue.
A language trainee of Wonkwang's own Korean language centre who applies to an undergraduate course can prove half the amount.
Hand in copies of the bankbook's front page and its last balance page with the certificate. The certificate must be on the bank's own form and show the bank's contact details.
Application fee 100,000 won, not refunded whether or not you pass. The King Sejong Institute scholarship row waives it; no other waiver is printed.
Tuition (2026 rates): humanities and social 3,428,000 won the first semester and 3,131,000 after; science and physical education 3,811,500, then 3,694,500; engineering and arts 4,375,000, then 4,258,000.
No entrance fee line is printed, and the guide does not say why the first semester costs more than the later ones.
The school's general 2026 new-student table (not an international table) prints 3,248,000 won for humanities and social and no entrance fee. Confirm your first bill with the office: +82-63-850-5844, bon5752@wku.ac.kr.
Tuition is paid in the registration window (1 to 5 June or 20 to 24 July 2026; the guide says this may change) into the Jeonbuk Bank account printed in the guide, held by the Office of International Affairs.
Standard admission letter: from 8 June 2026 (round 1) or 27 July 2026 (round 2), after the school confirms the education verification and the bank certificate. Classes start 31 August 2026.
Expected graduates send the expected-graduation certificate first and the graduation certificate later, or the admission is cancelled.
A graduate of a Korean junior college hands in the education verification for the high school graduation certificate only.
The verification route follows the country of the school, not your nationality. The guide's examples: schooling in the USA takes an apostille or consular confirmation; schooling in China takes the Ministry of Education centre (CHSI) report.
Chinese applicants, general high school: a gaokao (高考) transcript verified by the Ministry of Education, or a huikao (會考) pass certificate or transcript verified the same way, each with a graduation certificate from the school head.
Chinese applicants from a recognised secondary vocational school that CHSI issues no report for: the guide prints a table of accepted papers by school type, mostly a graduation certificate with an apostille (guide p.10).
Chinese applicants whose last schooling is university or higher: a degree verification, or a graduation certificate that shows the degree, certified by the Ministry of Education.
Chinese applicants transferring from a university: proof of high school graduation, plus proof of bachelor enrolment (or graduation) or of associate degree graduation, each certified by the Ministry of Education.
On the application form write your name exactly as it is spelled in your passport. The guide says every entry is to be filled in accurately in Korean, and originals and copies are handed in as separate sets.
Dormitory (2026 rates): two-person room 809,000 won for a 15-week semester, meals separate (one meal a day 477,000, two 836,000, three 1,075,000).
Dormitory rooms have a desk, chair, bed, wardrobe and bookshelf; bring your own bedding and toiletries. Notices: dorm.wku.ac.kr.
Dormitory move-in (dormitory office notices for Fall 2026): hand in a health certificate that covers tuberculosis and hepatitis B, issued within 3 months of the move-in day. Without it you can be made to leave.
From the official guide. The school decides what it accepts, not Waegook.
All requirements
- You and both parents are foreign nationals (the guide: a foreign student whose father and mother are both foreigners)
- ALL APPLICANTS, freshmen and transfers: you finished all schooling equal to Korea's 12 years of primary, middle and high school. The guide says nothing about a GED or homeschooling
- TRANSFERS: year 2 with a junior college degree (or expected) or 1 year or more at a four-year university; year 3 with a junior college degree (or expected) or 2 years or more at a four-year university
- Year 4 transfer: a degree (or expected) from a three-year junior college in the same or a similar department. To graduate, year 4 transfers must complete 2 terms (20 weeks) or more at the Korean language centre, whatever else they hold
- KOREAN IS OPTIONAL WHEN YOU APPLY: no minimum level is printed. Hand in proof only if you hold it: TOPIK, a KIIP completion or pre-test score, a King Sejong Institute course, a university language institute certificate, or other proof
- The interview is held in Korean. Selection: documents (transcripts and language proof) 40 points, interview (reason for the major, language ability, character and values) 60 points. Pass mark 60 in total. Tied applicants are all selected
- Interview: face to face if you are staying in Korea, by phone or video if you are abroad. Time and place are announced later. Bring your exam slip and ID: only an alien registration card, driving licence or passport counts
- An applicant judged from the interview and the document review to lack the ability to study may not be selected
- TO GRADUATE, one of: TOPIK 4 (arts and sports: TOPIK 3) with no expiry; KIIP level 4 completed or a pre-test score of 81 or more; King Sejong Institute intermediate 2 or higher; a pass in the school's own test (WKU-TOPIK);
- or 2 terms (20 weeks) or more at the school's Korean language centre. English-section classes are exempt from the Korean graduation rule, but the guide lists no English-track major and prints no English score for admission
- No quota number is printed for any unit. A unit is open only if it is in the guide's table; the guide prints no list of closed majors
- TUITION BAND: the international guide prints three bands and does not say which unit is in which. It warns that a unit's admission field and its tuition band may differ
- Where a row shows a tuition figure, the band is OUR READING of the school's general 2026 new-student table, not a statement in the international guide. Confirm your band with the office before you pay: +82-63-850-5844
- You cannot change the department you applied to after the application is in. If the Korean government refuses your visa, your admission is cancelled at the same time
- FALL 2026 GUIDE (September entry; the cover is marked draft; Korean prevails). Both rounds have passed. The Spring 2027 guide is not posted yet (checked 12 October 2026)
- Results are posted on www.wku.ac.kr with no individual notice. The tuition amount is told to each admitted student after the result, and admission is cancelled automatically if it is not paid in the window
