What do I need?

• Application set, original: application form, motivation and study plan, personal-information consent, academic-record check consent
• Family relation proof: birth certificate plus both parents' ID copies; Chinese nationals a notarised kinship certificate, birth certificate or hukou (plus proof for divorced, deceased, remarried or unmarried parents)
• High school graduation (or expected) certificate: apostille or consular authentication abroad (China: CHSI online verification in English); Korean high schools the certificate and school life record
• Transcripts for every high school year with the same authentication; anyone who attended a Korean high school adds the school life record
• Korean proficiency proof, passport copy, alien registration card (both sides) if you live in Korea
• Arts college and dance applicants: portfolio or video on USB; other supporting material optional

THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, filed by admitted students AFTER acceptance, in your or a parent's name only (never a sibling or relative); 8,000,000 for completers of YU's own institute. ARC holders show a certificate in their own name from a bank in Korea; abroad an equivalent in another currency is fine. Check your embassy's visa rules first.

Application fee 100,000 won on the application site, refunded in full only if you cancel before the deadline.

Tuition can be paid by WeChat Pay or Alipay (China), ZaloPay (Vietnam), PayPal or the virtual account on the invoice; remitter name must match your passport.

Dormitory (2026, four months, two-person room): about 747,500 to 1,068,000 won plus a 100,000 deposit at the Gyeongbuk Global Exchange Center; meal plans 1,035,000 (two meals) or 1,372,000 (three meals).

All requirements

• You and BOTH parents are foreign nationals (nationality gained before high school counts, including former Koreans who lost Korean nationality by then); anyone holding Korean nationality cannot apply
• You finished (or will) 12 years of schooling equal to Korean primary, middle and high school. Equivalency exams, homeschooling and online degree programmes do NOT count
• KOREAN, one of: TOPIK 3 (PBT or IBT), valid on the deadline; King Sejong intermediate 1 (not online); a pass on the 2026 YU TOPIK; level 3 at a Korean university institute; a Korean high school; KIIP 3 or a pre-test score of 61
• YU TOPIK (pass or fail, counts once): register 21 September to 12 October for 14 October, 9 to 20 November for 25 November, 1 to 11 December for 18 December; sat at the International Center or partner institutions abroad
• No English score replaces Korean, except in the partner-only English-track Global Studies majors. Everyone admitted without TOPIK does at least 300 hours of Korean in year one. TOPIK 4 to graduate (3 in arts and PE)
• Selection: documents only, 100 points, one recruitment unit per applicant; arts and dance add a portfolio or video. A department may limit its intake
• Transfers: year 2 with a junior college degree or one year (two semesters, a quarter of the credits) at a four-year university; year 3 with two years and half the credits or a vocational college degree
• Transfers need institute level 4 or KIIP 4 (pre-test 81) instead of level 3 and KIIP 3
• First-year foreign students take the set general education courses; national health insurance (about 80,000 won a month) and YU student insurance (about 120,000 won a year) are compulsory
