What do I need?
- Admission form, application and self-introduction with study plan (school forms 1 to 3)
- High school graduation (or expected) certificate and full transcript, original and copy, with apostille, Korean consular confirmation or CHSI check. Transfers: university transcript and completion certificate
- All schooling abroad: primary and middle school transcripts and the immigration entry and exit record
- TOPIK or English score within two years; Korean institute level-3 certificate, transcript and attendance if used (required for D-4 holders)
- Passport or ID copies of you and both parents; family relation proof; financial documents; ARC copy (applicants abroad after admission). China: hukou and parents' employment certificates
- Academic verification by country as printed: China CHSI; Vietnam notarised translation with the Vietnamese foreign ministry and Korean consulate; Uzbekistan and Mongolia apostille or Korean-mission copy
THE BANK BALANCE: applicants abroad file a certificate meeting the amount and holding period set by the Korean mission in their country (no won figure printed), in their or a parent's name (a parent's needs family relation proof); residents of Korea 16,000,000 won or more in their own name at a Korean bank. Filed with the application.
Youngsan students moving on file a certificate issued within 20 days before the admission letter request, in their or a parent's name.
The certificate must be on the bank's own form with the bank's phone number; add a copy of the front and back of the bankbook showing the final balance.
Filed an expected-graduation certificate? Send a notarised translation of the graduation certificate before the entry date. Not graduating from high school before entry cancels the admission.
No application fee. An entrance fee exists but no amount is printed; it is waived if you finished Youngsan's language course.
Dormitory, 2026 second semester: two-person room 906,000 won, four-person 508,000 (Yangsan) to 563,000 (Haeundae), plus a 60,000 deposit; women's off-campus 1,150,000 or 1,250,000 plus 50,000. You live on your department's campus.

All requirements
- You and BOTH parents are foreign nationals (judged at the application start; you and both parents must be foreign before you start high school), or a foreigner who did all 12 school years abroad, naturalised marriage migrants included
- Korean dual nationals are not treated as foreigners. If only one parent is legally your family, only that parent's nationality counts (shown by a government document). Former Koreans file proof of loss of Korean nationality
- You graduated (or will) from a regular high school. Equivalency exams in Korea or abroad, homeschooling and online learning are NOT accepted; a foreign school located in Korea does not count as a foreign school
- KOREAN, one of: TOPIK 3 (within two years); KIIP stage 3 (pre-test 61); King Sejong intermediate 1; the school's own test; level 3 at the Youngsan centre; or a year at a university institute plus its level 3
- ENGLISH instead: TOEFL iBT 59, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or New TEPS 202. For some countries the embassy visa standard applies: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 530 (CBT 197, iBT 71), CEFR B2, TEPS 601 (New TEPS 327)
- No English score if your country has English as a native or official language (with proof of schooling), or you did all of middle and high school, or a whole degree, in an English-speaking country
- TOPIK 2 only for students of certain overseas partner programmes; Chinese-taught courses need no language score. Every major can open an English or Chinese course once at least 15 students enrol
- THE SPRING 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST: its four rounds (1 September 2025 to 21 January 2026) are closed. The Spring 2027 guide was not posted on 1 October 2026; the last cycle opened on 1 September. Watch global.ysu.ac.kr
- Selection is an interview only: 100 points (character 30, fit for the major 30, language 40), under 60 fails; video or in person from abroad. No quota
- Transfers: year 3 after two years (four semesters) at a four-year university (65 credits if abroad) or a junior college degree; year 4 for three-year college graduates or six semesters, same field, TOPIK 3 required
- Transfers choose from a separate, older list of units (guide p.3) that includes Nursing, Physical Therapy, Law, Hotel Management and Food Service Management. The majors shown here are the freshman list
- Transfers must register at least 4 semesters (year-4 entrants 2) and reach 130 credits in total; up to 65 earlier credits count (year 4: 96). Graduation may take longer
- To graduate: TOPIK 4 (Korean track) or TOPIK 3 (English track). A visa refusal cancels the admission with a full tuition refund; no visa by two weeks after classes start may cancel it
