A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Computer Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering (4,109,000; freshmen and transfers)
- Information Security (3,780,000; freshmen and transfers)
- School of AI Software: Big Data major, Artificial Intelligence major (4,109,000; freshmen only, no transfers)
- Information and Communication Engineering also has a Korean-Chinese bilingual year 4 transfer track, printed for transfers from Chinese-speaking countries: September intake only, none in Spring 2027
Published by Daejeon University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form and academic record check consent (school forms, attachments 1 and 2)
- Freshmen: high school graduation (or expected) certificate and high school transcript, notarised
- Transfers: previous college or university graduation (or expected) certificate and transcript, notarised. From a four-year university, add an enrolment or completion certificate and the high school diploma
- Schooling verification, issued in English (or with a notarised translation). Outside China: an apostille or consular confirmation (non-apostille countries: consular confirmation at a Korean mission)
- Schooled in China: a CHSI (学信网) report for general high schools, colleges and universities. Vocational schools without CHSI: the routes printed in the guide (attachment 4, the school information form, where asked)
- Korean proof, one of: TOPIK 2 or higher report; the school's Korean test result plus the centre's 1-year certificate; a KIIP stage 2 or higher certificate; a King Sejong Institute certificate (offline course abroad)
- Passport copy and ID copy of you; passport or ID copy of each parent (an alien registration card if they live in Korea)
- Family relation (or birth) certificate linking you to your parents or financial sponsor. Household register (호구부) copy: "중국 국적자만 해당" (Chinese nationals only)
- Bank balance certificate in your or a financial sponsor's name, issued in English or with a notarised translation (see notes)
- Dormitory application (attachment 3) if you want a room. If you arrange your own housing, a copy of the lease later
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, in your or a financial sponsor's name: valid up to 6 months from issue, and kept in the account for at least 1 month counted to the visa issue date. It goes in with the application papers.
Application fee 50,000 won, by bank transfer in the applicant's own name (Hana Bank account printed in the guide). Refund only for a natural disaster, the school's fault or another cause that is not yours; none for a change of mind or a fail.
ENTRANCE FEE: the international student guide prints none. The school's general fee table for all students (2026-2) adds 154,000 won to a new student's first-semester tuition; it does not say if this applies to international students. Ask the office.
Tuition is paid 6 to 8 January 2027 into the school's Hana Bank account (printed in the guide), in the applicant's own name. Unpaid on time means the admission is cancelled. The bill is sent to admitted applicants only.
Results 30 December 2026, by phone, SMS or e-mail. Admission letter as a PDF 18 to 22 January 2027; arrival and room allocation 24 to 26 February 2027; course registration at orientation after arrival; classes from 2 March 2027.
Expected graduates file the expected-graduation certificate now and the final certificate before the result. Where a government paper shows that diplomas are issued late ("베트남, 미얀마, 네팔 등" as printed), a provisional certificate is accepted within 1 year of graduation.
That year is counted to the admission letter date, and the final diploma is needed at the visa extension. Outside China, where a national exam pass is needed to enter university, the exam certificate can serve as schooling proof (apostille or consular confirmation).
Dormitory for international students, a semester: Hall 2, three-person room 450,000 won; Hall 3, single 1,400,000, double 700,000, four-person 600,000. A 50,000 won deposit is returned at check-out. No cooking with fire in Hall 3.
If the halls are full you may be placed off campus within 10 minutes' walk: a one-room arranged separately, about 3,000,000 to 4,000,000 won a year, utilities extra. The living-guide page (undated) says new international students live in the dormitory for 6 months or more.
Campus work for international students pays 7,500 won an hour, up to 15 hours a week (work scholarship). The office also recommends students for outside scholarships such as the Daejeon city award for international students.

All requirements
- You and both parents are foreign nationals ("부모 모두 외국인인 순수 외국인"). Dual nationals cannot apply
- FRESHMEN: graduated, or about to graduate, from high school after 12 years or more of primary and secondary school abroad
- Cyber learning or homeschooling at a regular school abroad can count as graduation if the total years of schooling are met (as the guide prints it)
- TRANSFERS, year 2: 1 year (2 semesters) or more at a four-year university in Korea or abroad, with 35 credits or more
- Year 3: a junior college graduate (or expected), or 2 years (4 semesters) or more at a four-year university with 68 credits or more. From a cyber university, graduates only
- Year 4: a graduate (or expected) of a 3-year junior college abroad, or 3 years (6 semesters) or more at a four-year university; either way in the same field, with 104 credits or more
- KOREAN, FRESHMEN, one of: TOPIK 3 (PBT or IBT); TOPIK 2, then 300 hours or more of Korean in year 1; or 1 year at the Daejeon University Korean Language Education Center plus the school's Korean test (TOPIK 3 level)
- Freshmen entering through TOPIK 2 or the school's test take 300 hours of Korean in year 1; the Korean Language and Culture Major's language courses count
- KOREAN, TRANSFERS, one of: TOPIK 3; or 1 year at the centre plus the school's test, then a regular Korean course every semester
- Both: KIIP (Social Integration Programme) or King Sejong Institute at the same level. TOPIK 2 = pre-test 41 points, stage 2 or Sejong beginner 2; TOPIK 3 = 61 points, stage 3 or intermediate 1; TOPIK 4 = 81 points, stage 4 or intermediate 2
- King Sejong Institute counts only with the basic course certificate from an institute abroad; online certificates are not accepted
- The school's Korean test (18 December 2026) is only for applicants without TOPIK 3 who finished 1 year or more at the centre
- TO GRADUATE: TOPIK 4, or TOPIK II 135 points or more (90% of the TOPIK 4 score) with 90% attendance and a C0 average or better
- All freshmen take the Korean Language and Culture Major (한국언어문화전공) in years 1 and 2 as a second major (36 credits). The home major starts in year 3, and both degrees are awarded
- Selection: a group interview, in person or online (applicants abroad: online), 100 points for communication, character and major ability. Missing the interview means a fail
- TUITION shown is the guide's 2026 rate ("'26학년도 기준"). The guide prints no period; the school's fee page prints these amounts a semester (원/학기당). 2027 tuition may change. The first bill may add a fee: see the entrance-fee note
- No English track: classes are in Korean. The Korean-Chinese bilingual transfer track takes September entrants only ("이중언어 과정은 9월 입학만 모집"), so it is not open for Spring 2027
- Apply in person or by post; the guide says an online route will be announced if that changes. Units may change with the university's restructuring, and the schedule may change
- Admission is cancelled if final papers are missing before classes start, tuition is not paid in full on time, papers are false, or you cannot enter Korea because the visa (D-2 or F) is not granted
