A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Culture Industry Management, Korean-Chinese Translation and Interpretation (the guide prints no teaching language for these)
- Glocal MICE
Published by Hallym University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form printed from UWAY, with a personal statement (original); two passport photos, white background
- Bank balance certificate of KRW 16,000,000 or more (original; see the notes)
- ID of you and both parents (copies); passport copy; alien registration card front and back if you live in Korea
- Family relation proof (notarised): a birth certificate or another paper showing your relation to your parents. Chinese nationals: kinship certificate (친족관계증명서, notarised) and hukou (호구부, copy)
- If they apply: death or divorce certificate (notarised); proof of loss of Korean nationality (original; it must show the loss and its date)
- Freshmen: high school graduation (or expected) certificate and transcript, original plus notarised copy (no notarisation if the original is in English)
- Transfers: junior college or university graduation certificate (or a 4-year university enrolment certificate) and transcript. Students still enrolled at a 4-year university must also file the high school certificate and transcript
- Language score report (original); D-4 holders add a Korean school enrolment and grade certificate
- Diplomas from outside China: the graduation certificate with an apostille or consular confirmation, original
- Diplomas from China: the final certificate (original) plus a copy of the diploma. General high schools: the CHSI (学信网) report in English. Degrees (junior college or 4-year): the education ministry report in English
- China, secondary specialised or vocational high schools (one): (1) a local education authority certificate, only if checkable online, with apostille or consular confirmation and the school information form (붙임 1)
- or (2) the school's own certificate confirmed by the provincial (city) education office, with apostille or consular confirmation and the school information form (filled in twice: one for Hallym, one for the Korean mission)
- China, technical high schools: the online check from mohrss.gov.cn with apostille or consular confirmation, only if checkable online
- China, other high schools: the school's certificate with apostille or consular confirmation, plus a copy of the school licence (事业单位法人证书 or 民办学校办学许可证); academic courses only. The form says non-academic courses get no student visa
THE BANK BALANCE IS KRW 16,000,000 OR MORE. Living in Korea: a Korean bank certificate in your own name only. Living abroad: in your or a parent's name. Issued within 30 days of filing; deposit frozen at least to the end of March 2027.
Rule printed for named countries, copied whole: "해외 체류 베트남, 우즈베키스탄 국적자는 현지 소재 한국 금융기관 발행 잔고증명서만 인정합니다." In English: overseas residents of Vietnam and Uzbekistan file a certificate from a Korean bank located in that country only.
The bank certificate may be asked again for the visa, with parents' employment and income proof. Papers are not returned (some originals that cannot be reissued, such as a birth certificate or diploma, can be returned after checking).
Keep spare papers for the visa application. Missing papers can get the visa refused, at your own risk.
Your English name and date of birth must match your passport. Give a correct e-mail, address and phone for urgent contact.
The guide prints the Apostille member list "as of 11 September 2026" (hcch.net); diplomas from other countries need consular confirmation from a Korean embassy.
Application fee 65,000 won; no cancellation or refund once submitted. Results on 18 January 2027 on the admission result site; no individual notice.
Admission letter by e-mail late January to early February 2027, only after tuition and the apostilled or consular-confirmed final diploma. Arrive in February, at least the day before orientation (late February, tentative). Classes start 2 March 2027.
Expected graduates who do not file the final certification and final transcript before the admission letter get no letter, and the admission is cancelled.
Applicants already in Korea change their status at an immigration office (by appointment) before the semester; applicants abroad apply in person at a Korean embassy or consulate.
Dormitory: foreign students get priority and every applicant is placed. 2-person room 1,296,000 won; 3-person rooms 786,000 or 684,000 won, for 4 months (English guide: a semester). Meals not included (dorm office page, 2026 rates).
Exchange-rate differences in tuition are refunded or charged after classes start. The guide is written in Korean; if a translation differs, the Korean guide prevails.
Giving up after paying: request the refund by 5 February 2027 17:00 with a copy of a bank book in your own name and the give-up form (등록포기각서).
Questions, as the admissions page prints them: Chinese +82-33-248-1345 (iao77@hallym.ac.kr); non-Chinese +82-33-248-1343 (iao22@hallym.ac.kr).

All requirements
- You and both parents are foreign nationals. If you or either parent also holds Korean nationality, you cannot apply. Foreign nationality taken by all of you before the high school stage is accepted with proof
- Divorce, remarriage, death or unmarried parents: file the matching proof (divorce or death certificate and so on)
- FRESHMEN: graduated (or graduating) from a regular high school in Korea or abroad, or an equal course. School-leaving exams (검정고시), homeschooling, cyber, adult and lifelong education courses are NOT accepted
- TRANSFERS (Korean or foreign schools): year 2 = 2 semesters done at a 4-year university, or a junior college graduate; year 3 = 4 semesters done, or a junior college graduate; year 4 = a 3-year junior college graduate (ask which majors)
- Transfers: "graduate" includes expected graduates (졸업예정자) at every level
- KOREAN, freshmen (one of): HU-TOPIK pass; TOPIK or TOPIK iBT 2; Hallym Korean center intermediate 2 (finished or studying); King Sejong Institute beginner 2; KIIP stage 2 or pre-test 41. Transfers: TOPIK 3
- Year-4 transfers into a bilingual programme (half the credits in a foreign language) need no language score; a phone or video interview may be held. Scores count until the expiry printed on them, as of the online application date
- BELOW TOPIK 3 AT ENTRY: two semesters of intensive Korean (300 hours, 160 hours and 1,000,000 won a semester); majors from year 2. TOPIK 3 sent 1 week before entry waives it; TOPIK 3 in the first semester cuts it to 120 hours
- Intensive Korean attendance can limit the courses or credits you may take. In year 1 you take required basic and general courses
- HU-TOPIK (Hallym's own test) is offered only to students of selected partner institutions abroad: tests on 3 November 2026 and 8 December 2026 (applications 26 to 30 October and 1 to 6 December)
- HU-TOPIK: apply in person or by e-mail (iao@hallym.ac.kr) with the form in the guide; results 9 November and 14 December 2026; the test is planned in person or online
- You may name a first and a second choice. A second choice is judged only if the first fails; first-choice admits register only there. A second major is open to all; a change of major is possible from year 2 (may be reviewed)
- Selection: documents, then the department review (28 December 2026 to 7 January 2027); a phone or video interview may be held. Evaluation details are not disclosed
- Missing papers exclude you; papers must arrive by 24 December 17:00 or you fail. Forged or false papers found later cancel the admission, even after you are admitted. The school may ask for more papers
- TO GRADUATE: TOPIK 4 (or KIIP stage 4 or pre-test 81, or King Sejong intermediate 2), unless you entered with an English score into an English-taught programme. Year-4 transfers into a bilingual programme follow separate rules
- TUITION a semester, 2026 rates (2026.9.1. 기준; 2027 not printed): 3,490,000 humanities, social, business, future convergence; 3,813,000 to 4,065,000 media; 4,129,000 sciences; 4,371,000 PE; 4,536,000 AI and speech; 4,590,000 global
- The first-semester bill is printed separately and is 183,800 won above the per-major figure in every band; the guide does not say what the difference is. Entry scholarships are taken off that first bill
- Tuition: pay 18 to 22 January 2027 17:00 in your own English name (the guide says these dates may change); overseas transfer charges are yours; unpaid tuition fails the admission. Refund requests by 5 February 2027 17:00
