What do I need?
- Application form printed from Jinhak after the online application, signed. Personal statement (form 4) and study and research plan (form 5), signed
- Bachelor's degree (or expected) certificate and full transcript; PhD applicants add the master's certificate and transcript. Foreign degrees: apostille or consular confirmation within 3 months of the deadline
- Transcripts must show grades on a 100-point scale or GPA with the full mark; without the full mark the lowest conversion is used. Transfer students add the earlier university transcripts
- Education check consent and personal information consent forms; passport copy, valid on the application date
- Financial guarantee papers issued after 1 June 2026 (Fall 2026 rule; see the notes); more may be asked when the admission letter and visa are issued
- Family proof: a government certificate showing the nationality of you and your parents and your relation (notarised copy; notarised Korean or English translation if needed). Add a passport copy if it omits nationality
- Language proof where your department needs it. Alien registration card copy (holders); overseas Korean certificate, entry and exit records where they apply; design applicants may add work samples
- Overseas Koreans add primary, middle and high school graduation certificates and transcripts. A degree through the credit bank system: a transcript from the National Institute for Lifelong Education
- Photo file (jpg, gif and the like) on the online form: 3 x 4 cm, upper body from the front, no hat, taken within 3 months of the application deadline
BANK (Fall 2026 guide): self- or parent-funded, the study expense pledge (form 6), the guarantor's employment or business certificate if any, and a bank certificate of 12,000 USD or more, Korea or abroad.
The deposit had to stay frozen until 30 September 2026; without a frozen period, a certificate issued after 1 June 2026. Supervisor-funded: forms 7 and 8, the supervisor's employment certificate and the research project budget.
As printed for degrees from China: "중국에서 학위를 취득한 자의 최종 학력증명은 China Academic Degree & Graduate Education Development Center(https://www.cdgdc.edu.cn) 또는 (https://www.chsi.com.cn)에서 학력·학위 인증보고서를 발급하여 제출".
Also printed: "중국에서 학위를 취득한 학생의 경우 원본과 한국어 번역 공증본을 모두 제출"; papers the sites cannot issue need an apostille or consular confirmation.
Family proof as printed: "중국 국적 지원자: 호구부(정부발행 호적등본) ※ 본인과 가족의 호구가 분리된 경우 친족관계증명서 번역 공증 원본 추가 제출"; "중국 외 국적 지원자: 가족관계증명서 또는 출생증명서 등".
Application fee 50,000 won (Fall 2026), by card, bank deposit or internet banking; refunded only in the cases the law lists (refund form 11).
Fall 2026 dates (all past): online 4 to 18 June 2026 18:00; papers 19 June 18:00 (post stamped by 19 June and arriving by 24 June); oral exam and interview 8 July; results 20 July 14:00; tuition 28 to 30 July; classes 1 September.
Papers by registered post, courier or express mail (ordinary post not accepted), or in person on weekdays (not 12:00 to 13:00). Arrival shows on Jinhak 2 working days later. To give up after paying, file the 등록포기각서 form.
Admission is cancelled if you do not get a D-2 visa or do not finish registration in time. Grades that cannot be converted: file the GPA and full-mark proof, or a foreigncredits.com conversion.
Expected graduates who fail to finish the degree before entry are not admitted; final papers with an apostille or consular confirmation are due before entry. For the visa after admission, a foreign degree's apostille or consular confirmation must be within 6 months of the visa application.
Dormitory, 2026 rates with meals for 115 days: Hanbat hall single 1,429,400 to 1,998,120; Dormitory 1 single 1,589,400 to 2,158,120, double 1,089,400 to 1,658,120; Dormitory 2 (utilities extra) 1,169,400 to 2,208,120.

Dormitory 2 utilities (dormitory office notice, 2026 semester 2): 150,000 won paid in advance, apart from the dormitory fee, before you move in; settled after you leave (pay more if you used more, the rest refunded).
Entry and exit record (Korean guide p.17): overseas Koreans, and foreigners who finished all schooling abroad and are the only foreign national in the family, file it. If you cannot, file official papers giving your attendance dates.
Those attendance papers cover primary, middle and high school and the bachelor's course. If your family certificate omits your parents' nationality and you have no valid passport, file a nationality certificate or ID copy.

- TUITION (2026, a semester): 2,729,600 for master's and PhD; entrance fee 22,200 once (Fall 2026 guide). This is a daytime professional graduate school (전문대학원), not the General Graduate School

- You and both parents hold foreign nationality, OR you are an overseas Korean or foreigner who finished all schooling equal to Korean primary, secondary and university education abroad (Korean guide p.6)
- Master's: a bachelor's from a regular university in Korea or abroad (Fall 2026: by the end of August 2026). PhD: a master's likewise. Any earlier major. File the final degree certificate before entry
- LANGUAGE, one of: TOPIK 3; TOEFL PBT 530, CBT 197 or iBT 71, New TEPS 327, TOEIC 700 or IELTS 5.5; a language letter from your future supervisor (form 9)
- Or nationality of a country where English is the mother tongue or a legal official language (no country list is printed in the graduate guide)
- Department rules: Korean Language and Culture, TOPIK 3 or the supervisor letter; Public Policy and Law and Public Administration, TOPIK 3 only
- Economics, Business Administration and Finance and Real Estate: TOPIK 3, an English score or English-country nationality (no supervisor letter)
- No language score needed: Materials and Manufacturing Eng. (소재시스템공학과), Creative Convergence Eng., Interdisciplinary Big Data, Visual Communication and Media Design, Industrial Design, Computer Eng.
- Scores must be valid on the application deadline; with no validity printed, 2 years from the test date. The guide prints the older TOEFL scale only
- Selection: master's, bachelor's grades 100 + oral exam in the major 60 + interview 40 (200 points); PhD, bachelor's 50 + master's 50 + oral 60 + interview 40
- Interviews are face to face; a video interview only in exceptions (living abroad, quarantine) with the graduate school's prior approval
- Apply to one graduate school only (General, Software Convergence, Industry, Entrepreneurial Management). Missing the oral exam or interview fails
- The Industry graduate school teaches in the evening; the Entrepreneurial Management one too, except Startup Studies (daytime). Railway System Eng. (PhD) in the General Graduate School is also an evening course
- As printed (p.9): a foreign applicant cannot get a visa for an evening course when the same or a similar daytime course exists, and must apply to the daytime course (General or Software Convergence graduate school)
- Tuition period: the Korean fee table prints none; the English version of the guide says "KRW/Semester" and the school's 2026 tuition page lists graduate tuition per semester (학기별)
- Tuition is paid at any KB Kookmin Bank branch in the payment window; even a 0 won bill must be confirmed at the bank. The admission letter for the visa comes from the Office of International Affairs after registration
