All requirements
- You hold foreign citizenship. A dual Korean citizen cannot apply as an international student
- And one of these two: neither of your parents is Korean, or, if you are of Korean origin, you did all of primary, middle and high school outside Korea
- An international school inside Korea does not count as a school outside Korea
- Finishing high school in Korea does not shut you out, but then you and both parents must hold non-Korean citizenship
- For spring 2027 entry you must finish high school by 28 February 2027. For fall 2027, by 31 August 2027
- An English test report is required unless you are exempt. KAIST prints recommended scores, not minimums
- English tests must be taken on or after 12 November 2024 for the early track, 4 February 2025 for the regular track. ITP, Duolingo and at-home tests are not accepted
- Recommendation letters are optional from the 2027 cycle: up to two, highly recommended, sent by the recommender by their own deadline
- Tick KAIST scholarship under Statement of Financial Resources on the form. Admitted students then receive it automatically
- An online interview only if KAIST asks for one
- There is no transfer route. Whatever you studied before, you enter as a first-year student
- You cannot defer a place, and holding a place at another university at the same time is grounds for dismissal
