What can I study?

Published by Kangwon National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Online application (Form 1), with every document scanned and uploaded as a PDF, up to 8 MB each Guide
• High school graduation or expected-graduation certificate, apostilled or consular-legalised (some countries use a national verification report instead, see the guide)
• High school transcript, original or notarised
• Transfer applicants: university certificate and a transcript showing credits and GPA
• Language certificate valid through the start date, or the pledge (Form 2)
• Copy of your passport, and your residence card if you live in Korea
• Copies of your own and both parents' ID cards or passports
• Government family relationship certificate, original or notarised (some countries use a household register, see the guide)
• Proof of financial ability, submitted only upon admission; bank balance certificate showing KRW 16,000,000 or more
• If you graduated from a Korean high school, submit your student record.

SCAN, UPLOAD, AND POST THE ORIGINALS. Kangwon wants every document uploaded with the online application, and the paper originals in person or by post to the campus you apply to.

SPRING 2027: apply online 26 October to 20 November 2026, 17:00 Korean time; posted originals must arrive by then. Department review 7 to 10 December, results 24 December, tuition 28 December to 4 January.

The fee is 70,000 won and cannot be refunded or waived.

BANK BALANCE, only if admitted: 16,000,000 won (about USD 13,000), yours or a parent's with a guarantee form. Applicants from some countries must use a named bank, see the guide. In Korea: your own Korean account.

One application per intake, whatever the campus. A second one is rejected.

Documents in any other language need a notarised translation.

All requirements

• A department built for international students: at least half of the credits are taught in a foreign language
• Freshmen, and transfers into years two to four (year four only from 2+1+1 partner universities)
• In-person interview
• English-track students cannot get Kangwon's TOPIK-based scholarships
• You and both parents hold foreign nationality, acquired before you started high school. Dual nationality is not accepted
• Twelve years of schooling. A GED-type equivalency exam is not accepted
• Papers go to Room 106, KNU Global Talents Network Center, not to the main international office (gcadmission@kangwon.ac.kr)
• English-track applicants need valid English test scores or secondary school education taught in English in an English-speaking country.
• Korean-track applicants need TOPIK 3, level 4 of Kangwon's Korean course, KIIP level 3 or King Sejong Intermediate 1. Graduates of Kangwon's preparatory programme need TOPIK 2
