What can I study?

Published by Kangwon National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Online application (Form 1), with every document scanned and uploaded as a PDF, up to 8 MB each Guide
• High school graduation or expected-graduation certificate, apostilled or consular-legalised (Chinese applicants: CHSI report)
• High school transcript, original or notarised
• Transfer applicants: university certificate and a transcript showing credits and GPA
• Language certificate valid through the start date, or the pledge (Form 2)
• Copy of your passport, and your residence card if you live in Korea
• Copies of your own and both parents' ID cards or passports
• Government family relationship certificate, original or notarised (Chinese applicants: kinship certificate or hukou)
• Music, Fine Arts, Dance and Design: portfolio or practical-test material

SCAN, UPLOAD, AND POST THE ORIGINALS. Kangwon wants every document uploaded with the online application, and the paper originals in person or by post to the campus you apply to.

SPRING 2027 DATES ARE NOT OUT YET. Kangwon's admission page says spring applications run in October, interviews in November and December, results in mid-December.

The fee is 50,000 won and cannot be refunded or waived.

BANK BALANCE, only if admitted: 16,000,000 won (about USD 13,000), yours or a parent's with a guarantee form. Uzbek applicants: a local KDB Bank certificate. In Korea: your own Korean account.

One application per intake, whatever the campus. A second one is rejected.

All requirements

• ONE OF KANGWON'S DEPARTMENTS RUN FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: year one is an intensive Korean course aimed at TOPIK 3, alongside the department's foundation courses
• Freshmen only. No transfer places
• In-person interview
• You and both parents hold foreign nationality, acquired before you started high school. Dual nationality is not accepted
• Twelve years of schooling. A GED-type equivalency exam is not accepted; schooling across two or more countries must total 12 years
• No score yet? Sign Kangwon's pledge (Form 2) and hand the certificate in later; for fall 2026 the cut-off was 28 August
• Judged by three faculty, on documents or an in-person interview depending on the department
• First-semester scholarship: full tuition at TOPIK 5, about 60% at TOPIK 4, about 35% for graduates of Kangwon's own Korean programme
