What can I study?

Published by Mokpo National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Application form (form 1 freshmen, form 2 transfers), study expense pledge (form 3; the sponsor is a parent in principle) and consent to check your schooling (form 4)
• High school graduation (or expected) certificate, one of: English original or notarised translation, confirmed by the Korean consul abroad or by your own consul in Korea; an apostilled paper; or a China education ministry report
• Expected graduates add the graduation certificate later. Full high school transcript showing school name, contact and seal; English original or notarised translation; the same consular confirmation, or an apostille
• TRANSFERS: completion or graduation (or expected) certificate showing the years you actually studied, and the full university transcript; English original or notarised translation; the same consular confirmation for a university abroad
• Family proof naming you and BOTH parents with relation, names and nationality (family relation or birth certificate, notarised translation). As printed: "중국국적: 친족관계증명서 또는 호구부 제출". Details must match the passports
• Your passport copy (valid; without one, a home ID copy and its notarised translation). Parents' passport copies valid 6 months or more after entry
• As printed for parents' passports: "우즈베키스탄 국적 지원자는 반드시 해외 출국에 사용 가능한 국제 여권 사본 제출"
• Alien registration card copy, front and back, if you hold one. Language proof earned within 2 years of the deadline
• Original bank balance certificate in English (see the notes)

THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON (in KRW terms) in your or your financial sponsor's name, an English original. If you do not file it with the application, you may file it after admission.

Finished this university's Korean course? The pledge, family proof and passport copies (items 2, 8, 9 and 10) are not needed, and 8,000,000 won in your own account is enough.

Application fee 40,000 won (20,000 administration and 20,000 interview), by bank transfer in your own name to the Shinhan Bank account printed in the guide. Only the interview part is refunded: missed for a reason not your fault, or no interview given as ineligible.

Applicants living abroad file every paper in 2 copies after admission, for the visa. File originals; a copy is accepted only with the original shown, which is returned after checking (p.10).

Results on the international office site only, with no individual notice; print the tuition bill and admission letter there in the payment window. Unpaid tuition in the window cancels the admission.

To give up the place: ID, bank book copy and the refund form (office site, Notice) to the 국제협력처 행정실 in person or by fax +82-61-450-2951 (then phone 2278 to confirm). Full refund before the entry date, then by the school's rules.

Dormitory, a semester, 2026 first-semester rates (2027 domestic guide, p.73): Dorim rooms 741,200 to 1,144,500 won; meals 489,800 to 768,800 won or tickets (BTL halls: compulsory meals 675,800). Damyang rooms 450,000 won.

An undated international office page says most international students are placed in the BTL halls (Maru and Dasom).

Students without health insurance usable in Korea must join Korean health insurance. From semester 2, students without National Health Insurance get no scholarship.

All requirements

• You and BOTH parents are foreign nationals. Dual nationals and stateless persons cannot apply. You must keep your foreign nationality until entry
• FRESHMEN: graduated (or graduating) from a high school in Korea or abroad. The guide says nothing about equivalency exams or homeschooling
• TRANSFERS (year 3, first semester): 2 years or more at a 4-year university (industrial, open and accredited cyber universities count), or a junior college diploma, or an associate degree or 80 credits under the credit-bank laws
• Transfers may come from any earlier major and must study at least 2 years here to graduate. Damyang campus units take freshmen only
• KOREAN (one of): TOPIK 2 or higher; King Sejong Institute beginner 2 or higher; or 4 terms of this university's Korean course finished (or finishing) plus a pass in its own Korean test
• TOPIK 2 holders must take 300 hours or more of the university's Korean course after entry (applicants to arts and physical education excepted). The guide prints no cost for these hours: ask
• Language scores count only if earned within 2 years of the application deadline
• Selection: an interview only, 100 points (language 40, major aptitude 30, character 15, thinking 15); under 60% fails. In a set room in Korea, or by video for applicants abroad: agree the video interview with your department in advance
• Bring your ID (alien registration card, passport) to the interview: without it you cannot sit it, and an applicant whose identity cannot be checked fails
• One unit only inside the university. Places are not limited; no waiting list. The university may refuse an applicant whose schooling it judges too low for its courses
• Students admitted to a school (학부) choose their major in year 2 or 3, and the guide promises the student's choice in full ("학부입학생의 경우 ... 학생의 선택권 100% 보장")
• TUITION a semester, 2026 second-semester rates (2027 may change): humanities and social 1,657,500; Land Administration, Political Journalism 1,969,000; sciences and PE 1,978,000; engineering and arts 2,118,000
• The 2-year associate units on the Damyang campus: 1,445,000 a semester. No entrance fee is printed; the university tuition page shows "-" for undergraduates
• The guide does not say which department is in which band. These rows follow the band names; where a unit could sit in two bands, its row says so: ask before you budget
• MERGER: Mokpo merged with Jeonnam State University in March 2026 (Damyang campus). Its own site also announces a planned merger with Sunchon National University (target 1 March 2027); no approval notice was found
