A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Music (master's only; application fee 100,000 won; practical test on the interview dates: one free piece, or for composition the score or a recording of one piece of your own, each with an interview)
- Fine Arts (master's and PhD; bring a portfolio to the interview)
Published by Pai Chai University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Master's and integrated course: application form and study plan (entered on UwayApply), bachelor's graduation (or expected graduation) certificate and transcript (uploaded), and the personal information consent form
- PhD: application form, study plan, master's graduation (or expected graduation) certificate and transcript, the consent form, and a statement of enrolment in the four social insurances. Pai Chai graduates add the bachelor's certificate
- Foreign applicants add: passport copy, alien registration card copy, a paper that proves the family relation (to check nationality), and financial papers (the bank balance certificate)
- Language certificate (TOPIK or a recognised English test) if you hold one. Early Childhood Education applicants must file TOPIK 5 or higher
- Graduates of foreign universities file an English graduation (or degree) certificate and transcript, proved in one of three ways: an apostille; consular confirmation from the Korean mission abroad or your country's mission in Korea
- The third way, printed for a degree from China: a CDGDC Credentials Report plus an English certificate from chsi.com.cn. No other degree proof is accepted
- Cooperative course applicants: a recommendation from the research institute, on its own form. If you transferred before, add transcripts from before and after the transfer
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE: a balance certificate from a bank in Korea. Students about to graduate from Pai Chai: 8,000,000 won or more.
The certificate is used for the visa and the standard admission letter, and the money must stay frozen until the visa is issued. Whose name the account must be in is not printed. It is part of the application papers.
PhD AND INTEGRATED COURSE APPLICANTS PAY 70,000 WON, and Music master's applicants 100,000 won. The 50,000 won application fee shown for this programme is the master's fee in every other department (Fall 2026 guide).
The UwayApply service charge comes on top of the application fee: 5,000 won on the 50,000 and 70,000 won fees, 7,000 won on the 100,000 won fee. No exemption is printed.

All requirements
- THE FALL 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST. All three of its rounds are over, and no Spring 2027 graduate guide was posted on 12 October 2026
- Timing hint only, not 2027 dates: last year the Spring guide notice was posted on 24 October 2025, with applications from 27 October to 7 November 2025
- FOREIGNERS ARE SELECTED OUTSIDE THE QUOTA. You must be a foreigner whose parents are both foreign, or an overseas Korean or foreigner who completed all schooling equal to Korean primary, secondary and university education abroad
- Master's: a bachelor's degree from a Korean or foreign university, held or expected by August 2026 (Fall 2026 guide), or equal standing under law. PhD: a master's degree on the same terms
- NO LANGUAGE SCORE IS REQUIRED TO APPLY, except in Early Childhood Education. The guide asks for a language certificate only from applicants who hold one: TOPIK 3 or higher, or an English score
- English scores named: TOEFL 530 (CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600 (New TEPS 326), or an equal score on a nationally recognised English test. The new TOEFL score scale is not mentioned
- TOPIK 2 or lower at entry: you must complete 300 hours or more of Korean training within 1 year of entry. If you do not finish it within the year, you are removed from the school
- EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION: foreign applicants must file TOPIK 5 or higher
- The guide names no department as taught in English. Its scholarship table speaks of "departments that teach 50% or more in English" but lists none, so ask the department
- Selection: every applicant takes an oral test in the major and an interview (80 points) plus a document review (20 points). Applicants living abroad may be interviewed online. Missing the test means failing
- Pass mark: an average of 60 or more for a master's, 70 or more for a PhD or the integrated course. Music (master's) adds a practical test worth 100 points, for a total of 200
- Study length: master's 2 years, PhD 3 years, integrated master's and PhD 5 years. Classes are in the daytime in principle; some departments teach at night, so ask the department
- Transfers: semester 2 entry after 1 semester or more and 6 credits or more in another graduate school; semester 3 entry after 2 semesters or more and 12 credits or more. Same field only
- Academia, research and industry cooperative courses (Life Science, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Computer Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, Cybersecurity) need a recommendation from the research institute
- New and transfer students cannot take a leave of absence in the first semester, except for military service or illness
- Refunds: full tuition and entrance fee if you file the withdrawal form before classes start; within 30 days of the start, five sixths of tuition and no entrance fee
- One guide covers Korean and foreign applicants. The graduate school's own "admission for foreigners" web pages still offer a 2019 file; it is not used here
