A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Business Administration, Global Korean Studies, Global Liberal Studies (in a group of five majors printed with about 80 places)
- Early Childhood Education (about 60 places)
- Aviation Tourism and Foreign Languages (in a group of two majors printed with about 40 places)
- Business Administration
- Global Korean Studies
Published by Sahmyook University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form, printed after you apply online and pay the fee; self-introduction on the school form; consent to check your academic record (school form, one for each foreign high school attended)
- High school graduation (or expected) certificate and transcript, with an apostille or consular confirmation. China: an apostille, or the reports of the Ministry of Education centres (chsi.com.cn and cdgdc.edu.cn)
- Transfers send the university enrolment or graduation (or expected) certificate and the university transcript in place of the high school papers; the rest of the list is the same
- Copies of your father's and mother's citizenship papers or passports; a copy of your passport; a certificate of the parent and child relationship issued by your government; a copy of your alien registration card if you live in Korea
- Korean track, one of: the original certificate of completing level 3 or higher at a Korean language institute, with transcripts and attendance certificates for every term; or the original TOPIK or TOPIK IBT score report
- English track, one of: a CEFR, TOEFL (CBT or iBT), TEPS or IELTS score report
- Bank balance certificate, 20,000,000 won or more
- Tuberculosis test result from the last 6 months, in English or Korean. It is needed to enter the dormitory
THE BANK BALANCE IS 20,000,000 WON OR MORE, on a certificate issued within 30 days counted from the first day of online application, sent with the application papers.
If you hold an alien registration card and live in Korea: an original certificate from a bank in Korea in your own name. A minor may send a parent's certificate if the family relationship certificate proves the link.
For applicants abroad, the guide prints no rule on whose name the certificate must be in.
Completers of the Sahmyook Korean Language School may send a certificate of 10,000,000 won or more, with the original completion certificate and the transcripts and attendance certificates for every term.
The guide prints a separate rule for nationals of Uzbekistan: a bank balance certificate in your own name from KDB bank Uzbekistan, plus your birth certificate and proof of your parents' finances.
That proof, as printed: an employment certificate and pay record issued through my.gov.uz, business papers, a land and property register issued through my.gov.uz, a QR bank balance certificate and the like.
After admission you must send again an original bank certificate that meets the visa standard when you ask for the standard admission certificate, whatever you sent with the application.
Expected graduates must send the final graduation certificate and transcript, showing the last semester, after graduating and inside the extra filing period, or the admission may be cancelled.
If your name differs from one paper to another, add a paper proving you are the same person, issued by your government (page 17 says by a court of your country or the head of a diplomatic mission).
Write your own e-mail address and phone number on the application: the guide forbids an agency's or a language school's contact details.
Sign up on jinhakapply.com in your own name: the guide does not allow applying with a guardian's or anyone else's ID. Have a photo file ready (3 x 4 cm, jpg or gif).
Application fee 100,000 won (Music 150,000 won). No waiver is printed, and the fee is not refunded once you apply.
Tuition is the 2026 table and may change for 2027 entrants. It prints a higher figure for the first semester than for later semesters and gives no reason; the guide names no entrance fee anywhere.
A student association fee of 15,000 won is printed beside the tuition, the same for every major.
Paying from abroad, you may have to pay more because of the exchange rate.
Dormitory per semester, no meals (Spring 2027 basis; same as the dormitory office notice of 7 July 2026): single 2,358,000 won; double 1,304,000 (Peniel, Salem) or 1,070,000 (Zion, men); triple 889,000; four-person 725,000 (Eden, women).
Add a 10,000 won student council fee and a 100,000 won first-entry fee to each dormitory figure.
Dormitory rules: no smoking, no alcohol, an 11 pm curfew with roll call. Zion and Eden halls have shared toilets and showers on the corridor; Salem, Peniel and New Start halls have them in each room.
Dormitory office: house@syu.ac.kr; foreign student desk +82-2-3399-3662.
The standard admission certificate is sent by e-mail and is not issued while tuition is unpaid.
International office: Daniel Hall room 108, Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:00, Friday 09:00 to 14:30, closed 12:00 to 13:00. Tel +82-2-3399-3616, 3612 or 3610; apply@syu.ac.kr.

All requirements
- You and both parents are foreign nationals. A foreign nationality gained later counts only if you and both parents all gained it before you started the schooling equal to Korean high school
- Dual nationality with Korea is not accepted. If your parents are divorced, the nationality of the parent holding parental rights or custody is the one counted, with papers proving the divorce and custody
- FRESHMEN: all of the schooling equal to Korean elementary, middle and high school, completed in Korea or abroad. A school-leaving equivalency exam (검정고시), homeschooling and online schooling are NOT accepted
- TRANSFERS, year 2: 2 or more semesters completed at a junior college, or year 1 (2 semesters, seasonal terms not counted) at a four-year university with at least a quarter of the graduation credits
- TRANSFERS, year 3: 4 or more junior college semesters, or year 2 (4 semesters) at a four-year university. Year 4: graduation from a three-year junior college, or year 3 (6 semesters) at a four-year university
- ENGLISH TRACK: TOEFL 530 (CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or TEPS 601 (NEW TEPS 327) or higher; or nationality of, or middle and high school in, an English mother-tongue country; or nationality of an English official-language country
- The CEFR test meant is Cambridge English First (FCE). The guide prints the TOEFL bar on the old scale only
- English mother-tongue countries, the whole printed list: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa
- English official-language countries, the whole printed list. Asia: Brunei, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore. Europe: Ireland, Malta, United Kingdom
- Americas: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United States

- Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
- Swaziland is the Korean guide's wording; the English guide prints Eswatini. Applicants from the listed countries can be excused from the test score, but then get no English score scholarship
- Excused applicants send proof in English that their secondary schooling was in English. The Korean guide lists a transcript, a diploma, an original confirmation from the school; the English version joins them with "or"
- English-track freshman places, as printed: about 80 against the group of Business Administration, Global Korean Studies, Bio-Convergence Engineering, Global Liberal Studies and Music
- About 60 for Early Childhood Education; about 40 against the group of AI Convergence and Aviation Tourism and Foreign Languages. The guide does not say if a group figure is per major or shared
- A major does not open on the English track if fewer than 20 students are admitted to it
- English-track transfers: Business Administration and Global Korean Studies only, into year 2
- Selection: documents 90% and an interview 10% (Music: documents 90% and a practical test 10%)
- The interview is within 10 minutes, in Korean on the Korean track and in English on the English track. Each department sends its own time, which may move if many apply. Missing it is a fail; bring your passport or alien registration card
- Nursing, Physical Therapy and the AI Convergence division take freshmen and transfers only for the March semester. On the Korean track, Global Liberal Studies takes freshmen only and Early Childhood Education takes up to 4
- The guide prints no list of closed majors: a major that is not in its tables is not offered on this track. Pharmacy is not in the recruiting tables
- SPRING 2027 GUIDE (file dated 28 September 2026; Korean prevails). Round 1 ran 29 September to 7 October 2026; round 2 runs 20 October to 11 November; round 3 runs 8 to 29 December. The semester start date is not printed
- The application fee is not refunded once you apply, and submitted papers are not returned
