What do I need?

• Application form printed after online filing (upload a 3 x 4 photo file); study plan and the academic verification consent (school forms); the 유학경비 부담서약서 (Affidavit of Support) if the funds are not your own
• Study plan (school form): four parts, 500 characters or more each (motive and goal, past activities, research plan, plans after graduation). The release-of-information form is mandatory for foreign university graduates
• The expected-graduation certificate must show the expected date. Bachelor's transfer students file papers from both universities; PhD applicants file bachelor's (associate degree too, if any) and master's papers (p.8)
• Bachelor's graduation (or expected) certificate and transcript; PhD applicants add the master's certificate and transcript. Korean universities: papers with a verifiable number. Expected graduates file final papers by 31 August 2026
• Foreign universities: an apostille original, or consular confirmation (the Korean consul in that country, or that country's consulate in Korea) where there is no apostille
• Printed for China (p.10): the English verification report issued through CHSI, or an apostille; without an apostille, the CHSI report plus notarised English translations of the diploma and the degree certificate
• Printed in the document table (p.9): Chinese students file a CSCSE (教育部留学服务中心, overseas-degree verification) degree certificate; degrees from universities in China, the CHSI original
• Printed for Japan: those graduating in September 2026 file the apostilled final certificate within 8 weeks of the start of classes
• Foreign nationality proof of you and both parents (passport or ID copies); family relation papers (birth certificate, family register, 가족관계증명서, translated and notarised). Printed for China: notarised 호구부, plus 친속관계증명서 if split
• Single-parent cases: a death certificate or divorce papers and the parents' marriage certificate. Your passport copy; alien registration card copy if you live in Korea
• Language proof (not needed for the bilingual course): TOPIK or TOPIK IBT report; King Sejong certificate (intermediate 1 or higher, not online); KIIP stage 3 or pre-test 61 report; the school's level 4 certificate; its own-test pass
• Financial proof (see the notes). Transfers add an enrolment, completion or graduation certificate and transcript of the same degree course (Korean ones within 3 months; foreign ones notarised translations, apostilled or consular-confirmed)

BANK BALANCE, in your or a parent's name (bank certificate or proof of money sent to Korea), issued within 30 days of applying: 20,000,000 won or more (printed 2천만원) for a new student visa (printed "한국에서 신규 사증발급").

A certificate with a printed validity counts until that date, at most 6 months from issue. Those already in Korea extending or changing their stay: 10,000,000 won or more (printed 1천만원).

If the money is not yours: the guarantor's employment certificate or business registration, asset proof and the Affidavit of Support (유학경비 부담서약서, school form).

Application fee 95,000 won in total, as printed: 90,000 won plus the 5,000 won online filing fee, for the general graduate school and the Polymathes graduate school alike. Not refunded except for force majeure after review.

ENTRANCE FEE 500,000 WON, ONCE (2025 reference table; 2026 and 2027 figures never posted). Tuition in that table: master's 4,700,000 won, PhD 5,200,000 won, no period printed; the 1-year short course 6,000,000 won is a planned figure.

Tuition is paid into a KB Kookmin Bank virtual account within bank hours (16:00 close); from abroad by SWIFT to SHINHAN UNIVERSITY (CZNBKRSE), transfer fees yours. The standard admission letter follows full payment.

SWIFT details as printed: KB KOOKMIN BANK, add XXX if 11 characters are asked; no ABA or routing number. A short payment caused by transfer fees is the student's responsibility.

D-10 or D-4 holders in Korea must change to D-2 before the semester; applicants abroad apply at the Korean embassy with the admission letter, passport, form, the university's business registration copy and a tuberculosis certificate.

Current D-2 holders also apply before the semester. Embassies may ask for more papers. Alien registration within 90 days of the visa (at once when a change of status is granted); papers on the graduate site's Immigration / Visa board.

Fee refund only after review with proof, for natural disaster, illness, a changed exam date or clearly failing the requirements; not for other personal reasons.

A Chinese degree report can also be requested in Korea from the Seoul Confucius Academy (renew.kongzi.co.kr, +82-2-554-2688, cis88@cis.or.kr), as the guide prints (p.11).

Dormitory (office notices for 2026 second semester, graduate students included): Uijeongbu Carmel 1 a semester (115 days) 1,058,550 won in total with the 50,000 deposit, 6 months 1,549,670; Dongducheon Carmel 3 6 months 1,247,000 in total.

Graduate scholarships for new foreign students are shares of 수업료 by TOPIK level (30% to 80%) or 100% with a president's recommendation; see the scholarship card. Awards are decided by the graduate scholarship committee.

All requirements

• THE NEWEST GUIDE IS FALL 2026 ROUND 3 (posted 21 July 2026). No Spring 2027 graduate guide was on the board on 31 October 2026; last year the Spring guide came on 29 October. Dates, fees and rules may change
• You and both parents hold foreign nationality. If you or either parent is a dual national holding Korean nationality you cannot apply; the admission is cancelled if this is found later
• MASTER'S: a bachelor's from a university in Korea or abroad, held or possible by August 2026 (Fall 2026 guide), or an equal level by law. PHD: a master's, same timing
• TRANSFER (편입학): 2 semesters (12 credits) or more completed at a graduate school in the same or a similar department and major; entry into semester 3; at most 12 credits recognised; same field only; extra semesters may follow
• KOREAN, one of: TOPIK or TOPIK IBT 3 or higher, valid on the document deadline; level 4 or higher of the school's Korean course (students taught 1 year or more); a pass in the school's 국제어학센터 Korean test
• Or: KIIP stage 3 or higher (or pre-test 61 points); King Sejong Institute intermediate 1 or higher (online Sejong not accepted). Entry to the bilingual course (이중언어과정) is reviewed separately by the graduate committee
• NO ENGLISH SCORE ROUTE is printed. The departments printed "이중언어과정 운영" are 글로벌경영학과, 교육학과 and 스포츠건강학과; the class language of that course is not printed. Bilingual entrants take 300 hours or more of Korean after entry
• TO GRADUATE: TOPIK 4 (TOPIK 3 for the bilingual course and arts and sports entrants). The school's own Korean test for Spring 2027 entry runs 16 October to 9 December 2026 (four sittings, 50,000 won, exam.shinhan.ac.kr)
• SELECTION: documents 100% on the foreign-applicant evaluation sheet. Anyone judged clearly unable to study is failed regardless of places; no documents, no admission. Some departments take a different previous major with prerequisites
• Apply online only at jinhakapply.com (no in-person filing), then post the papers with the printed envelope cover to the Graduate School office, Zion Hall 4th floor, 95 Hoam-ro, Uijeongbu, to ARRIVE by the deadline
• TUITION: the school has posted only a 2025 reference table (notice of 30 October 2025, "2026 not decided"): entrance fee 500,000 won; tuition master's 4,700,000 won, PhD 5,200,000 won, no period printed. No newer table exists
• Refund: before the semester, tuition and entrance fee in full (withdrawal form, bank book copy); after it starts, enrolled-student rules and no entrance-fee refund. Questions +82-31-870-3403 or 3398
• Lengths: master's 2 years or more, PhD 2 years or more (guide p.19); classes on weekdays (day or evening), weekends or online. Graduate office: Uijeongbu Zion Hall room 4060; Dongducheon Rodem Hall room 1040 (graduate site)
• Admission is cancelled, with no tuition refund, for applicants who do not qualify, file false or altered papers, or whose academic verification shows a defect (p.2). Results go on the graduate site only, with no individual notice
• Once filed and paid, the application cannot be changed or cancelled. If your name, address or phone number changes during the admission period, tell the graduate office at once (guide p.2)
• Printed for Chinese students (guide p.2): if you do not meet the Chinese Ministry of Education's limits on online classes and on time spent in Korea, CSCSE may not verify the degree later
• Online classes: every foreign student may take them for at most 30% of the year's credits, except students who live abroad (guide p.2)
• 1-YEAR SHORT COURSE: the 2025 reference table prints its tuition as 6,000,000 won, "2026년도 신설과정으로 예정금액으로 대체함" (a planned figure for a course new in 2026). The scholarship table gives it its own line (30% of tuition)
