What can I study?
- Computer Science
- Artificial Intelligence
- School of Advanced Convergence Studies: Advanced Artificial Intelligence major
- School of Advanced Convergence Studies: Intelligent Semiconductors major
Published by University of Seoul. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Applicant document checklist and application form, printed after you apply online and pay the fee; sign the form by hand. Self-introduction and study plan (school form): each answer within 500 Korean characters or 300 English words
- Passport copy; alien registration card copy, front and back, if you hold one. Chinese nationals add a copy of the Chinese ID card
- Language proof, at least one. Freshmen: TOPIK 3 report, or the certificate and transcript for University of Seoul centre level 3 or certified-university institute level 4. Transfers: TOPIK 4, centre level 4 or institute level 5
- High school graduation (or expected) certificate and, FRESHMEN only, the 3-year transcript with its grading method and top mark: originals with apostille or consular confirmation. Schools in Korea: originals; freshmen add the school record
- High school in China (guide p.20): general high school, BOTH the CHSI online verification printout in English and the graduation certificate with apostille or consular confirmation
- Other high schools in China (vocational, specialised, technical, international, arts and others): the paper the p.20 table names for your school type, with apostille or consular confirmation and the school information form where asked
- High school in China, expected graduates (guide p.16): the expected-graduation certificate and transcript with apostille or consular confirmation now; after admission, the CHSI report (general high school) or legalised final papers (others)
- Graduates of an 11-year system add the transcript of the last 3 years. Schooling period table (school form) for primary, middle and high school; consent to an academic record check (school form)
- Proof of each parent's nationality: passport copy or valid ID copy (an ID not in Korean or English with a notarised translation). Chinese nationals: both the parents' passport copies and Chinese ID copies
- Family relation certificate for you and both parents, government-issued, with a notarised translation. Chinese nationals: a kinship certificate or the household register, one of the two
- Chinese nationals, as printed: the household register is accepted only when one parent is its head and the whole family is on that single register. If a parent has no passport copy, add a notarised translation of the Chinese ID card
- TRANSFERS add: certificate of enrolment, completion or (expected) graduation from the previous university, with apostille or consular confirmation (Chinese universities: an academic verification report in English)
- TRANSFERS add the previous university transcript for all years, showing grades and credits, the grading method and top mark: an original with apostille or consular confirmation (universities in Korea: the original)
- TRANSFERS also add material in English showing the graduation credit requirement of the previous department (a printout of a website or guide is accepted). Practical-test departments: the extra material the department asks for
- AFTER ADMISSION ONLY: the financial guarantee form (school form) and an original bank balance certificate
THE BANK BALANCE IS 20,000,000 WON OR MORE (or the same in another currency), in your or a parent's name, handed in AFTER admission with the school's financial guarantee form. A bankbook copy is refused.
Spring 2027 admits: a certificate issued on or after 1 January 2027, handed in 4 to 15 January 2027. Fall 2027 admits: issued on or after 1 July 2027, handed in 1 to 9 July 2027.
If both parents have died, a sibling's certificate is accepted. If you live in Korea with an alien registration card, the certificate must be in your own name. One not in Korean or English needs a notarised translation.
A certificate from a bank in China must be issued within 6 months of the day you hand it in and stay frozen until 31 March 2027 (Spring) or 30 September 2027 (Fall).
Possible exemption from the bank certificate: 6 years or more of unbroken legal stay in Korea plus graduation from a Korean middle or high school, with the graduation proof.
Application fee 80,000 won, paid inside the online application (unpaid means cancelled). After payment nothing can be changed or refunded, except in full for the university's fault, a natural disaster, or your hospital stay or death.
No fee waiver is printed. The tuition table prints tuition only, the same for new and current students; no entrance fee is printed for undergraduates.
Tuition is paid 11 to 15 January 2027 (Spring) or 28 June to 2 July 2027 (Fall), weekdays 09:00 to 16:00, into a Woori Bank virtual account. Not paying counts as giving up the place.
Late papers: an apostille or consular confirmation not ready in time, by 9 October 2026 (Spring) or 9 April 2027 (Fall). Expected graduates file the final certificate and transcript by 15 January 2027 (Spring) or 16 July 2027 (Fall).
Expected graduates who do not file the verified final papers may not get the admission letter. Even after you pass and enrol, admission can be cancelled if the bank certificate or those papers are not handed in.
If you will graduate later than those dates, contact the office in advance.
Parents divorced or deceased, or a single-parent family: add proof with a notarised translation (after a divorce, the papers on parental rights and custody).
In a single-parent family only the supporting parent's nationality counts, and a government-issued paper must confirm it.
Any change in family or nationality (divorce, remarriage, death, a missing parent, Korean nationality gained) needs its certificate. If a parent remarried a Korean national, add the family relation certificate of that Korean spouse.
Chinese nationals with a family change (divorce, death, remarriage), as printed: the kinship certificate and a copy of the newest household register showing the change; after a divorce, also the divorce agreement that names who has custody.
Where your country's school year ends up to one month later than Korea's and the school accepts it, the verified final certificate is due within 8 weeks of the first day of class.
After admission the school may check your record with your last school, using your consent form. If no reply comes within 6 months you must contact that school yourself; admission can be cancelled if the record cannot be confirmed.
Never take apart or reorder papers once the apostille or consular confirmation is attached: separated papers are refused. A translation you made yourself is not accepted. Get spare copies for your visa: nothing is returned.
Your English name must be spelled as in your passport on every paper, and the school name and graduation date on the application form must match your papers. Names on the family certificate must match the passports or IDs.
File the papers in the order of the checklist. Scan your language proof and upload it inside the online application by the online closing date; the paper itself goes in the post with the rest.
Results go on the international office website at 17:00; there is no individual notice. Standard admission letter by e-mail 18 to 27 January 2027 (Spring) or 12 to 21 July 2027 (Fall). Orientation late February or late August 2027.
Dormitory (2026 rates; 2027 not printed): Residence Hall, two- or three-person room, 764,000 won a semester; International House, your own room in a shared unit of 2 to 5, 1,120,000 won. Meals are not included.
New freshmen and transfers get priority for the dormitory for 1 year. You ask for it inside the online admission application.

All requirements
- You and both parents are foreign nationals, and all three held foreign nationality before you started the stage equal to Korean high school. If you or a parent also holds Korean nationality, or is stateless, you cannot apply
- Not foreign by birth: add proof that Korean nationality was lost. Adopted by foreign parents: you qualify only if you gained the foreign nationality before starting primary school
- FRESHMEN: graduated (or about to graduate) from a regular high school in Korea or abroad, or an equal qualification under the law. A GED or other equivalency exam, homeschooling, cyber learning and language schools do NOT count
- All of primary and secondary school done in ONE country counts. Across two or more countries only a 12-year system or longer counts; an 11-year system counts only if its last 3 years were done in one country
- Where a country's school system is shorter than 12 years, the missing years can be made up with time completed at a university in that country
- High school must be finished by the day before entry. Where a country's school year starts up to one month later than Korea's, up to one month of remaining enrolment can be accepted
- TRANSFERS (you enter year 3): 2 years or more (4 semesters, seasonal terms excluded) at a regular four-year university with half of the credits for a bachelor's earned or expected; or a junior college degree, held or expected
- British-system three-year universities count for transfers too, with two thirds of the credits. A transfer is cancelled if you did not finish 2 years at the previous school
- A private school that its country's education ministry has not approved, so that its students cannot transfer to another university, cannot be used for a transfer application
- Transfers: the credits the University of Seoul recognises depend on the credits from your previous university, so you may not be able to graduate within 2 years even though you enter year 3
- KOREAN, FRESHMEN, one of (held or expected): TOPIK 3 (TOPIK IBT counts); level 3 at the University of Seoul Korean Language Education Center; level 4 of the regular course at the Korean institute of an IEQAS-certified university
- Also accepted for freshmen: King Sejong Institute intermediate or higher (local certificate, not online); KIIP (Social Integration Programme) pre-test 61 points or stage 3; the NIIED course for overseas Koreans, intermediate or advanced
- KOREAN, TRANSFERS, one of: TOPIK 4; University of Seoul centre level 4; certified-university institute level 5; King Sejong Institute intermediate 2 or higher (local certificate only); KIIP pre-test 81 points or stage 4 completed
- A TOPIK report must be valid on the online closing date; trial scores are refused. Result pending: apply with the test ticket or enrolment certificate and send it by 9 October 2026 (Spring) or 9 April 2027 (Fall), 18:00, or you fail
- No English route and no English-taught major is printed: every route is a Korean one, and degree classes are the regular classes shared with Korean students
- Selection: documents only (100%). Architecture (5-year major), Design, Music and Sculpture: documents 40%, practical test 60% (20 October 2026 for Spring, 20 April 2027 for Fall, both planned). No interview is printed for other departments
- The separate 2027 admissions plan (revised 8 July 2025) splits the document score: Korean ability 60%, self-introduction and study plan 40%. The guide itself prints no split
- Practical-test extras: Architecture major, a portfolio (transfers: 2 years or more in an architecture department); Design, a portfolio; Music, a test by major; Sculpture, a portfolio and 1 year or more in an art department
- Design (both majors): if you studied 1 year or more in an art department or at an art academy, add the certificate. The portfolio is free in form and is not returned
- Practical test content: Architecture, a design sketch on a set topic and questions; Visual Design, a basic form test (bring pens and colours); Industrial Design, a basic 3D idea sketch, 2 hours; Sculpture, clay modelling and drawing
- Practical tests are held on campus in principle, at the place each department sets; those called are told individually and bring the exam ticket and photo ID. Music test pieces by major: PDF p.25 of the guide (Composition: a portfolio too)
- After admission, without TOPIK 4 or level 4 at the University of Seoul centre you may take at most 14 credits a semester until you have one. From 2027 enrolling at the centre is no longer compulsory (the old cap was 9 credits)
- Every international undergraduate must reach TOPIK 4 or higher before graduating. Graduation credits differ by department
- No fixed quota: international students are selected outside the quota. The open-major and convergence-major schools (자유전공학부, 융합전공학부) are not in the list of recruiting units. Industrial Design takes freshmen only
- Spring 2027 online applications ended on 23 September 2026 (results 13 November). The next window is Fall 2027: 8 to 25 March 2027. From 2027 the school recruits every September (for spring) and every March (for fall)
- The Korean guide prevails over the English, Chinese and Japanese versions. The schedule may change
